The book was amazing! I had seen all 8 seasons of the TV show before starting and I can start to appreciate how detailed rr Martin is in his story writing. I was always looking out for the slight nuances where the books differed to the TV shows and I'm equally impressed with what the TV writers from season 1 have managed!

Read this book a long time ago as a kid and felt I had forgotten the principles in my adult professional life. It was a much needed refresher in a long while. The story is great but could still use some more tangible methods. Also the narrator at times lacks enthusiasm and puts you to sleep. Overall a must read for anyone seeking financial independence

A Short History of Nearly Everything is Bill Bryson's fascinating and humorous quest to understand everything that has happened from the Big Bang to the rise of civilization. He takes subjects that normally bore the pants off most of us, like geology, chemistry, and particle physics, and aims to render them comprehensible to people who have never thought they could be interested in science. In the company of some extraordinary scientists, Bill Bryson reveals the world in a way most of us have never seen it before.

The book was interesting but wrongly named to be a history if everyhting. I guess I was expecting a history of literally a bit of everyhting in humanity, but this book tends to focus on geology, biology, chemistry and a bit of physics. Thats not really a history of everything. The narration was great but the story could have been more aptly named.

When Cal Newport coined the term deep work on his popular blog, Study Hacks, in 2012, he found the concept quickly hit a nerve.
