This is a. delightful story, beautifully written, read by a warm, soothing voice.. Set between the wars, the story weaves all the characters, so that we see the effect of the first world war, and the fear of the soon to be Second World War. The struggle of the main charters, at loosing the men in their lives. Really enjoyed this, will certainly be looking for more of this authors work

This started out well, but frankly found it boring long before half way, although reasonably well read and written, it failed to hold my interest, after about three quarters, I gave up and skipped to the end. As a lover of domestic history, I simple can’t recommend this book to anyone.
Should have sent this one back.

This collection of short stories, were a God send, as I was confined to my bed, over a couple of weeks. although I had heard a couple of the stories, because of them being on recent tv programmes, it was still excellent to hear them again. You won’t need to be ill to enjoy these
Offering. Well read, beautifully craft by the Queen of Crime. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

I have to admit to having read most of the Miss read stories more than forty years ago. They are a glimpse of English village life in years gone by, reflects in the same manner as Cider with Rosie,by Laurie Lee.
These books are likely to appeal to the more mature reader, but younger folk shouldn’t be put of, for them it will come under the heading of History.

This is a much needed story to all of us that loved and miss Downton Abbey

I was very pleased to find this. Book as part of the Audible library
It is well written as we would expect of Julian Fellows and the recording was excellent. It held my attention all the way through, for me a real page turner. I shall now go on to read ‘ Posh”. By the same Author. I’m sure that I shall love it as much as this book.
