Not my usual choice of listening material but I wanted something entertaining & frivolous and this book doesn’t disappoint. Like all the best rom coms it’s funny, sweet & utterly unbelievable. Pure literary candy floss, it’s a wonderful piece of escapism & I thoroughly enjoyed my little reality break

How did Fox Mulder become a believer? How did Dana Scully become a skeptic? The X-Files Origins has the answers. The X-Files Origins: Agent of Chaos explores the teen years of Fox Mulder, the beloved character depicted in the cult-favorite TV show The X-Files. His story is set in the spring of 1979, when serial murder, the occult, and government conspiracy were highlighted in the news. The audiobook follows Mulder as he experiences life-changing events that set him on the path to becoming an FBI agent.

This was fantastic as far as it went. But I felt there were far too many loose ends left untied, the events that closed this book would make an ideal start to a sequel.

Based upon the graphic novels by Joe Harris - with creative direction from series creator Chris Carter - and adapted specifically for the audio format by aural auteur Dirk Maggs ( The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Alien: Out of the Shadows), Cold Cases marks yet another thrilling addition to the pantheon of X-Files stories. Featuring a mind-blowing and otherworldly soundscape of liquefying aliens, hissing creatures, and humming spacecraft, listeners get to experience the duo's investigations like never before.

I was really looking forward to this audio book & although put off initially by it being so short I decided to stick with it. I wish I hadn't. It was a bonus having the actual cast playing their parts & they didn't disappoint. I LOVED X-Files on the telly & thought the recent TV re-boot was fantastic but this? Nowhere near. Great to hear the Lone Gunmen but overall I thought this audiobook weak and think that if the same effort had been put into the entire package as was promoting it for pre-order it would have been much better. The best thing I can say about this is that I used a credit rather than hard cash. If I'd paid over £20 for it I'd want a refund.
