Ok but not in the ballpark of ‘Behind Closed Doors’

Very predictable plot that I guessed most of it quite early on. Not a bad book but quite average. Slow to begin with but picks up.

Really looked forward to the release of this book but was genuinely disappointed. Really really slow in the beginning, so much so that I almost gave up three times. Then picked up a little but just not a good read (listen). A very forgettable book. Didn’t like the majority of characters, and found the plot quite dull too. I wouldn’t recommend this book. It’s not awful... it’s just below average...

Liverpool accent was so poorly delivered I could only listen to 15 minutes of this book. Oh my word completely awful.

I cannot bear to have to wait for Louisa Young to write the sequel.... This book is so many things.. a love story, a tragedy, a historical novel... to name but a few. It starts slowly, but once Riley signs up there really is no stopping it. Characters that are all so very different but so very damaged in one way or another at the end, but left with the hope that things may get better, and they all do have a future now that the conflict is over. I absolutely loved this book, and was left on many occasions in tears listening to it. Dan Stevens is fantastic, if I could give him 11 out of 10 I would. Don't hesitate to buy this audiobook, you will not regret it.
