This latest book in the Scotland Street Series didn't hold my interest as much as usual. Life is much better for Bertie, but the character storylines weren't as interesting.

Absolutely loved listening to this book and it left me with a 'feel-good' factor and hope at last for Stuart and Bertie.
Love the narration of David Rintoul who makes the repetitive stuff interesting.

Absolutely love this series of books.
Poor wee Bertie, how I wish he could be rescued from that insufferable mother. His clever exploits make me laugh out loud. Each character is significant even Cyril but that Irené needs her comeuppance!
Love the narration by David Rintoul.
Now for the next episode..........

Easy to read and to listen to, I enjoyed this little book. I loved the characters and wish I could wallow in the charm of The Little French Guesthouse.

What did you like best about this story?

The main characters finding friendship through respect and appreciation of each other.

Have you listened to any of Suzanne Heathcote’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Her voice was interesting and soothing and conveyed the different nationalities of the characters so well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The police raid on the barn as the 'illegals' were arrested. everything seemed so hopeless for them.

Any additional comments?

Would you listen to The Red Queen again? Why?

No I don't think so because Margaret irritated me.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Jasper because of his loyalty to the Queen and to his charge Henry but her husband Stafford had to be admired as he was such a peace-loving gentle man who deserved a better wife.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Probably her wedding night with Stafford when he treated Margaret with respect and affection.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was a sad story as everyone (apart from Stafford) were were ambitious, cruel, power-hungry and greedy.

Any additional comments?

It gives insight to the difficulties women endured in the royal ranks.
