Naomi and I are best friends. School runs, dog walks, a shoulder to cry on over a glass of wine - we’re inseparable. But now my husband has walked out, I need her more than ever. I know she will help me pick up the pieces. Because she knows about the lie I told to protect her. She knows how much I’ve sacrificed for this friendship. And she’d never let anyone hurt me. Would she?

Jane Grey was Queen of England for nine days. Using her position as cousin to the deceased king, her father and his conspirators put her on the throne ahead of the king's half sister Mary, who quickly mustered an army, claimed her crown and locked Jane in the Tower. When Jane refused to betray her Protestant faith, Mary sent her to the executioner's block. There Jane turned her father's greedy, failed grab for power into her own brave and tragic martyrdom.

A very good listen. An interesting insight into the unknown story of the Grey sister's. How a cousin could treat a member of her own family just because of jealously and vanity.

As she helps to nurse the dying Queen Elizabeth, Frances Gorges longs for the fields and ancient woods of her parents' Hampshire estate, where she has learned to use the flowers and herbs to become a much-loved healer. Frances is happy to stay in her beloved countryside when the new King arrives from Scotland, bringing change, fear and suspicion. His court may be shockingly decadent, but James' religion is Puritan, intolerant of all the old ways.

It's always nice to fill in the missing pieces of the full story. It ties everything together in one fabulous masterpiece known as Outlander. I'm a great fan and have visited every location that was filmed in Scotland and highly recommend the visits to any Outlander fan. Everything is as was apart from the stone's and Inverness is actually Falkland.

Great to know there was life after Will, and even though at times that was very sad, her they'll always be happiness somewhere fir someone! 😊

Absolutely loved it! I saw the film a couple of years ago and thought it was fabulous but was slightly unsure about reading the book. I'm glad to say the book exceeded expectations. It was practically word for word the same as the film but with added pieces that made it an emotional rollercoaster of being a part of the character's lives. Because it was read by more than one person, it seemed to add depth to the whole experience. Can't wait to read After You. I would highly recommend this book, you'll struggle to put it down even if you've seen the film.
