The Red Pill was delicious to swallow!

This book crystallises many of my thoughts of the last few years as well as throwing light on some issues I’d never considered. Easily accessible and logical - I would recommend this book to anyone.

A million listeners bought The Undercover Economist to get the lowdown on how economics works on a small scale, in our everyday lives. Since then, economics has become big news. Crises, austerity, riots, bonuses - all are in the headlines all the time. But how does this large-scale economic world really work? What would happen if we cancelled everyone's debt? How do you create a job? Will the BRIC countries take over the world?

Speaking from the point of view of a mathematician, it’s remarkable to see an economist explaining abstract mathematical ideas with greater clarity than any mathematician I’ve seen.

If you are interested in reading this book, I would recommend you read/listen to “The Undercover Economist”, which discusses microeconomics, first. Although not necessarily a prerequisite, I think it make this book a fair bit easier to follow and understand.

Stephen Fry narrating Sherlock Holmes is, to quote Doctor Watson, "a treat for the Gods". Something about these stories speaks directly to the soul. Even on a bad day, listening to these stories I find myself smiling and laughing uncontrollably. You will only understand by listening.

The brilliance of the stories is matched by the flawless narration of Vance.

Do yourself a favour and listen to this most unique part of British history. Once read, it is clear to the reader why the name Sherlock Holmes is known around the world. Whatever one would call the audio equivalent of a page-turner, this is it!

PS: One small piece of advice, unless particularly well read, I would recommend having a dictionary to hand as the English used is, at times, outdated. I wouldn't say this is a necessity, but certainly contributes to the full experience of listening to these outstanding stories.
