As a big fan of the thrillers by Mark Edwards and Louise Voss I was hoping for this to be along the same lines. Whilst it was an interesting story, it wasn't what I would describe as 'gripping'. Good narration and easy to listen to.

Catherine has been enjoying the single life for long enough to know a good catch when she sees one. Gorgeous, charismatic, spontaneous – Lee seems almost too perfect to be true. And her friends clearly agree, as each in turn falls under his spell. But there is a darker side to Lee. His erratic, controlling and sometimes frightening behaviour means that Catherine is increasingly isolated. Driven into the darkest corner of her world, and trusting no one, she plans a meticulous escape.

I haven't read any Marian Keyes for years. I wanted a light easy 'reading/listening' book and when I saw she had written a new one, decided to give it a go. I wasn't disappointed. It's very much her style although she has ramped up the sex scenes a little more! I even found myself googling the painter that Amy (the main character) has a passion for and I LOVED them and working out how I can get a print copy too!

Having read and listened to many books about the mind and the LoA, I was very familiar with the content, yet I still took away so much from the audio. I really enjoyed Craig's direct no nonsense style of delivery - he says it as it is and doesn't labour the points he's raising. I'll definitely listen to it again.

Would you consider the audio edition of It's Just a F***ing Date to be better than the print version?

I never read the book, just had the audio, but I feel listening to the audio was better as it hammered home the points they were making

Any additional comments?

Brilliant book and VERY bang on about how women behave and what NOT to do!

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No because it isn't a book! This is simply a recording of her seminars.

Has Letting Go and Becoming put you off other books in this genre?

No

What three words best describe Marianne Williamson’s voice?

Slightly annoying.....if I had a pound for every time I heard her say 'the course of miracles says'....

Did Letting Go and Becoming inspire you to do anything?

I'm disappointed that this has been described as a audio book - it is simply 4 recordings of her giving a church service or a seminar of some description. It did contain some good stuff but I felt went over the same things for 4 hours. It's VERY God focused, so if you aren't religious or spiritual, beware!

Ordering from the Universe, The Secret, The Law of Attraction, Cosmic Ordering - they all have one thing in common - positively focussing your thoughts and feelings. Positive thoughts attract positive things, negative thoughts attract negative experiences. However, things are not that simple. Just because you imagine your dream car, it won't appear in front of your house. What happens is that when you focus your thoughts and feelings on the things you really want, you start to change your belief systems...

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

I am a professional hypnotherapist and downloaded this as a treat given I spend do much of my time hypnotising others. The hypnotic induction (if you can even call it that) is awful and shows a complete lack of skill. Telling someone to 'relax, calm, release' is NOT hypnosis. There was NO sensory language, NO deepened hypnotic state, NO presuppositions, No use of metaphor.....NOTHING that constitutes hypnosis. The words she used were very direct and not indirect hypnotic language. This is not a professional hypnotherapist or someone skilled at the art of hypnosis. Do not waste your money.

What will your next listen be?

Nothing by this individual.

How could the performance have been better?

Had she been a trained professional in the art of hypnosis. She may claim to be but as a fellow hypnotherapist, this was NOT hypnosis or hypnotic language.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

NO.
