A good listen. I would recommend this title, however I would suggest that you listen to this first, before book 1. This is a prequel, so chronologically it is the 4th book to be published.

Even though you know the outcome of the story, this book keeps you gripped.

A good book from the start, easy pace, but with a couple of twists, and turns. You can have a few guesses as to who did it, but I doubt you will get it right.

Never quite got going, for me.

Firstly I thought the sound whilst clear, was over bassed.

The story never quite got going, and the supposed hard man didn’t live up to his reputation, didn’t quite get the better of the bad guys when perhaps he should have.

I hope they get better, as I have bought two more of the series.

If I had not persevered, I would have closed the book less than a 1/3 in. there is a lot of plot setting, before you get to the interesting bits, however once past the plot setting, the book picks up pace, and turns out to be a good read. A couple of good unexpected twists in the story. Worth persevering.

Firstly the narrator was the same as the Reacher books, initially he could have been talking about Reacher himself. I don’t rate the narrator, no depth, or passion.
The thing about his farther, and sister was repeated over and over, the average reader can actually remember the plot.
Without spoiling it, the end of this book is predictable.

The story was good, and moved well what let the book down for me was the rhythmic and droning narrator. Once you notice this, that’s it it’s the same all the way through.

I thought that 61 hours was good, but a bit light-on action. This book made up for that. Action almost from the start.

The book didn’t really take off, you keep expecting the next chapter to start getting better-but no.

Not one of Le Carre’s best.
