An Underground carriage in London is destroyed by a suicide bomber. The injured and the dead litter the platform. But as a crowd forms at street level, Michael Pope knows that this is only the beginning. Pope, head of top-secret Group 15, is tasked with finding the perpetrators of this atrocity and bringing them to justice, any way he can. He knows that the answers to many of his questions will lie at the end of the money trail, but he also knows that whoever funded and organized the attack will kill again for their freedom.

Unfortunately, this is a cliched storyline with the worst narration I have heard in over 100 that I have purchased. In addition it is literally only half a book, with no conclusion to any of the threads within it. If I had not bought this in a 2 for 1 sale I would want my money back. Sorry, but I will not be listening to anymore in this series.

Detective Dave Robicheaux, his wife Molly and daughter Alafair are vacationing in Montana. But evil, it seems, has followed them into this wild paradise. Someone is stalking Alafair, and Dave begins to suspect that it's a convicted serial killer she interviewed two years ago - even though he’s supposed to be dead. Is Alafair the target of a depraved serial killer, or has she unwittingly crossed paths with a murderous psychopath closer to home?

What does Will Patton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Will Paton's accents are brilliant. He brings each character to life and while at first the local dialects can sometimes be a bit tricky to understand for us Brits, you soon get used to it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This was one of those books that I could not wait to get back in the car and carry on listening to. If there was one criticism, it would be that it was a little too long and some scenes did not add much to the plot.

Any additional comments?

This was my first James Lee Burke novel and he is so descriptive, you feel like you are stood next to the characters in Montana as it is happening. He also has a very dry sense of humor with some excellent "one liners". I now intend to buy the full " Dave Robicheaux" series.

What will your next listen be?

James lee Burke / Will Paton

Would you be willing to try another one of Paul Panting’s performances?

The narration was very flat with stereotypical accents for each character (that said, the characters were stereo types of any London cop TV Show) and there was little passion in his voice.

Any additional comments?

If you like films like the last "Sweeney" you'll like this. I was dubious about buying his due to the title alone however the reviews "sold me" and I still feel short changed despite getting it on a "2 for 1" deal!
