For so many people, whether your addiction is to a substance or merely to a certain way of thinking or acting, a profound humbling occurs when you realize that your problem is bigger than you are. The terror of realizing, even dimly, that you have no control over a self-destructive pattern of behavior - that as much as you would want to, you simply cannot stop - can mark a crucial turning point in your life. At that point, you go in one of two directions: either way, way down, or way, way up....

Although Richard isn't the most natural narrator, it is lovely to hear his story in his own voice. I really enjoyed the story of his life and work, very inspiring and recommended, even if you aren't interested in business.

This book really makes me wish that I knew as many words as Stephen Fry does. I love his use of language and the depth of his, often hilarious, stories of his life. Perfectly narrated by himself.

A real window into his mind of self doubt that I had no idea about. A book straight from the heart and full of well known characters from his life.

I'm really keen to get some more of his books after listening to this one.

I think if I had read this book in print I would have skimmed over a lot of the names and Norwegian place names, but the narrator really gets stuck into them and gives a feel for where the story is set. I absolutely adore his different voices for all the characters too.

The story is beautifully complex and can even be a bit frightening at times. I listened in the evenings alone at work and started to get scared of dark rooms and corners!

The amount of times the characters have coffee and sandwiches is quite hilarious and always brings a smile to my face.

A bit of a slog

This audiobook is nicely narrated but I found the story a bit of a slog about half way through.

I enjoyed this more than the second book in the series, but I think maybe the zombie thing is a little dull for me now. Perhaps I'm just not that into zombie stories.
