great stories, appalling narration.

This was the first of over twenty audio books that I have purchased since my first (Nicholas Nickleby - narrated by the brilliant Alex Jennings) last summer - that I simply could not bear to listen to. Cathy Dobson is dire. Her strange inflections interfere with the flow of the text whilst, ironically, failing to add any vital colour to the leaden, monotone delivery. The stories are decent enough choices but are read with so little flair or narrative skill that I found them only interesting to help put me to sleep. Do not purchase. There are so many short story collections read by fine, professional readers on Audible to collect in your library, do not waste 'shelf-space' on this volume.
