Would you listen to Mr Mercedes again? Why?

Definitely a book to revisit in the future. King's ability to create believable characters who you feel you know personally makes for an enthralling listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Mercedes Killer was dark, deranged yet real and totally believable.

Which character – as performed by Will Patton – was your favourite?

Hodges is a great character with many facets.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is a fast-paced novel that has you hooked from the very start. I struggled to turn it off at night, yet didn't want the story to end.

Any additional comments?

King is the master of creating deep, interesting characters. This, together with the plot and excellent narration make for a terrific listen. Thoroughly recommended.

What disappointed you about Snowdrops?

A slow-paced novel with predictable outcomes evident from the opening chapters. Poor pronunciation of Russian words from the reader.

What was most disappointing about A. D. Miller’s story?

The predictable plot.

How could the performance have been better?

The reader should have researched the Russian words and pronounced them correctly.

What character would you cut from Snowdrops?

The characters were fine, however they lacked depth.

Any additional comments?

Having lived in Moscow and having visited St. Petersburg and Odessa, my interest was only maintained by the accurate descriptions of Russian culture and the cities in question.

If you could sum up The Stand in three words, what would they be?

A gripping epic.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Stu Sutherland. An unlikely and somewhat reluctant hero full of selflessness and compassion.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

When the virus first escaped.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many. King has a way of reeling you in through in-depth characterisation.

Any additional comments?

A 'must listen'. One of the best books I have ever listened to.

Where does Under the Dome rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Under The Dome is one of the most gripping novels I have listened to. I was gripped from start to finish, completely engrossed in the plot and rich collection of characters.

What did you like best about this story?

What I love about this novel is that the sci-fi is kept to a minimum and is almost secondary to the interaction between the many believable characters.

Have you listened to any of Raul Esparza’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could happily have listened to this in one go. Although not as long as The Stand, this is still an epic listen. That said, it did not drag and I was disappointed to come to the end.

Any additional comments?

Effortless narration made this gripping novel extremely listenable.

This was a real punt: an author I had not heard of, and a review which put me off a little. It was certainly a worthwhile gamble in the end. Griffiths paints a vivid picture of the Norfolk coast and populates it with likeable andinteresting characters.

I am looking forward to the next to books, both already on my wishlist. If you like your crime thrillers with well-written and well-researched settings then give this a whirl.
