This new series opens a new chapter in the Shannara legend. This is the story of the events before those described in The Sword of Shannara. Here begins the chronicle of the Great Wars and the destruction of the Old World, the story of how one world was destroyed and another created. This is the most ambitious project Terry Brooks has undertaken in his remarkable career, a series that will delight and amaze his existing fans and attract a whole new generation of readers.

I can't even begin to write how disappointed i am with this book. it is not at all like all the rest. it is set in 2018 in the USA! absolutely ridiculous to get rid of the magical world of fearie and the Omesfords.. it was just like any other book now, nothing special about it at all! incredibly slow starting.. no links at all to the shannara trilogy. a complete disappointment. I was obsessed by Terry Brooks books. loved them!! loved the world he created.. now we are just in the USA and there's been a disaster. so many books like this already. boring. disappointing. I better find another author to start reading now.all my other reviews have been 5 star! not this.

Two couples. Two love stories. One epic tale. Ninety-one-year-old Ira Levinson is in trouble. Struggling to stay conscious after a car crash, with his mind fading, an image of his adored - and long-dead - wife Ruth appears. Urging him to hang on, she lovingly recounts the joys and sorrows of their life together - how they met, the dark days of WWII and its unrelenting effect on their families. A few miles away, college student Sophia Danko's life is about to change.

I don't like writing negative feedback but after reading all the amazing reviews on this book I couldn't believe how boring it was. so I have to be honest and give my opinion.
there was no real point to the story line. flipped from one way to another. not in exciting twists but in a mess..
I finished the book hoping it'll redeem its self but even the ending was boring.
The narrator was horrendous. when she goes into character voices she shouts. but when reading the rest of the book she is very delicate and softly spoken. therefore I continuously had to tamper with the volume.

truly was rubbish

"Find the Elves and return them to the world of Men!" the shade of the Druid Allanon had ordered Wren. It was clearly an impossible task. The Elves had been gone from the Westland for more than a hundred years. There was not even a trace of their former city of Arborlon left to mark their passing. No one in the Esterland knew of them - except, finally, the Addershag.
