Ellie, on the other hand, requires special instruction at school, is friendless, and is punished at every turn. I finished this audio book so fast, I listened at every opportunity! I found myself so immersed with the main character, Smudge. I am especially impressed by the way the author Ann Morgan talks about mental health, based on my own experiences in that arena I can relate to a lot of it, and have to admit it was close to triggering me at points.

So the only warning I have, is a trigger warning. Some of the language and events are difficult to hear, but the story is fantastic. I felt constantly frustrated with the mother and the run of bad luck for Smudge and eager to see how things turned out.

Eagerly await your next book Ann!

Strikingly beautiful, she has an extraordinary talent for mimicry, like the famous Australian lyrebird. The crew, fascinated, make her the subject of their story and bestow the nickname upon her. When they leave, they take Lyrebird with them back to the city.

I struggled to last the whole story. *spoiler* I found it hard to identify with the lead characters, lyrebird was quite boring and repetitive. The main issue for me could stem from the fact I'd been cheated on in a similar way, so I couldn't be sympathetic with their secret love as it was quite harsh in my opinion. The whole TV side of Lyrebird's story was long and drawn out... I usually love Cecilia's books so I feel bad saying this
