Why do sales organizations fall short? Every day expert consultants like Mike Weinberg are called on by companies large and small to find the answer - and it's one that may surprise you. Typically the issue lies not with the sales team - but with how it is being led. Through their attitude and actions, senior executives and sales managers unknowingly undermine performance. In Sales Management. Simplified. Weinberg tells it straight, calling out the problems plaguing sales forces and the costly mistakes made by even the best-intentioned sales managers.

initial first 19 or so chapters could have been consolidated in to one chapter and did seem to go on like a broken whiney record. however, part two of the book is where the fun begins and gives a good overview of the basics that you should follow managing a sales team. Plenty learnt that will be put in to practice.

Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their successes over and over? People like Martin Luther King, Jr.; Steve Jobs; and the Wright Brothers might have little in common, but they all started with why. Their natural ability to start with why enabled them to inspire those around them and to achieve remarkable things.

Overall an interesting 'read' with some insightful anecdotes however I did find some chapters try a little too hard to be different for the sake of being different. whether some of this advice can actually be put in to practical use is another question but overall easy to listen too and relatively entertaining.
