When Michelle Thomas suffered her first major depressive episode six years ago, she read and watched and listened to everything about mental health she could get her hands on in an effort to fix herself. God, it was tedious. And, quite frankly, depressing. Which is the last thing she needed. What she did need was a therapist who would listen and offer a wellness strategy catered to her specific needs. What she got was advice to watch a few YouTube videos and a cheerful reminder that 'it could be worse'.

I downloaded this audiobook whilst navigating through a rough patch of poor mental health. Michelle manages articulate the messy, nonsensical pig sty that is is depression. Beautifully narrated by the author, it’s also peppered with stories from other “1 in 4’s”... It’s made me laugh, given me goosebumps and helped me feel less alone.

The Cows is a powerful novel about three women. In all the noise of modern life, each needs to find her own voice. It's about friendship and being female. It's bold and brilliant. It's searingly perceptive. It's about never following the herd. And everyone is going to be talking about it.

Brilliantly narrated and written of course.... What an amazing story!? Really makes you question the behaviour of people... online/offline, friends, coworkers, lovers, family. Makes you take stock and challenges your perspective. Keeps you guessing until the very end. Want more!!

I did enjoy parts, especially the story telling... but the long lists of cleaning products for audiobook didn't really make a great listen!

When it comes to the trials and triumphs of becoming a grown up, journalist and former Sunday Times dating columnist Dolly Alderton has seen and tried it all. In her memoir, she vividly recounts falling in love, wrestling with self-sabotage, finding a job, throwing a socially disastrous Rod-Stewart themed house party, getting drunk, getting dumped, realising that Ivan from the corner shop is the only man you've ever been able to rely on, and finding that that your mates are always there at the end of every messy night out.

Thanks Dolly, I really enjoyed this book. Being of the "MSN messenger / dial up generation, I found the start hilarious. Kept me gripped the whole way through. I found your reflections on love and journey of self-discovery really struck a chord with me.
