This was a very entertaining paranormal Reverse Harem story. I'm hooked and looking forward to the continuation!

The characters and world building was intriguing and very well done. The story is fast-paced and takes a lot of unexpected and unique turns. It's a shame that the book isn't longer with a bit more time for details and relationship development.

The narration is absolutely top-notch. The characters are easily distinguishable and the narration style is extremely captivating. It was a lot of fun to listen to Sarah Puckett!

I loved the narration by Hiral Varsani. She filled the story with so much life and I really enjoyed listening.

The story itself was great, but I wished it would have felt less rushed. There is no introduction how the human world works in which people can make a deal with the devil and we leave the first circles of hell behind very quickly as well. But that's all the critique I have. I was definitely captivated and will continue with this series!

I don't like going all swoony in my reviews. But it's really difficult not to!

The main reason for this is Wyn. I love how she grows into her Goddess power. The way she develops over the course of the series is so tangible. Even though we're talking about Goddess powers here, it feels so realistic. In a way, she stays the same person, with certain worries and fears. Her thought processes are very palpable and make her feel like a real person. Over time and with her powers growing, her decision-making changes. She gains more and more confidence in herself and gets a better grip on her concerns.

It's a remarkable personal journey! And I think that's why this series blew me away so thoroughly.

The storyline in the realm is fantastic. I also really liked how each guardian is a distinct personality. And of course how incredibly sensual this series is!

But it's Wyn herself that made me fall completely in love with it. And Laurel Schroeder transports all of this so well in her wonderfully melodic narration.

I am so pleased that I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. Because I really love this series and recommend it to any Reverse Harem fan!

"They say grief passes. They say the pain gets less. Well, I don’t want it to go. I don’t want it to stop hurting. The pain helps me function and get through the day. And it helps me focus on one thing: revenge." The Morrigan needs to die, no question about that. But first, Wyn and her Guardians need to find her. While the Realm prepares for war, allies arrive from unexpected places. But there are enemies hiding in plain sight who could stop the war before it's even begun. Can Wyn destroy the Morrigan without sacrificing the lives of her loved ones?

That moment, when you find out a series is not a trilogy and book 3 ends on a huge cliffhanger!! O.O

Now, aside from that, I liked this audiobook a lot. The narration by Laurel Schroeder is fantastic and absolutely captivating. Her male voices are very good and the guardians sound super sexy.

I liked how Wyn's development is portrayed. She's growing into her role, turning from the kind-of-human girl into a demi-goddess queen.

Eagerly waiting for the fourth part to come out on audible now!

Wyn thought everything would be unicorns and rainbows once she reached her mother's palace. I gave the first part 4 stars because, because, while I enjoyed it, it didn't completely win me over. However, in the second part I fell in love with the series! I liked the narration much better, in fact, it was perfect, and the storyline was very captivating. I love how the relationship between Wyn and her guardians develops. It's so tender, yet super sexy. There are no wild orgy scenes (which I'm glad about), instead we have hot scenes between Wyn and one of her guardians and suggestive hints of the things that happen when they all spend the night together. It's very well done and was for me the perfect way for a Reverse Harem.
The storyline of the Winter Heiress and her kingdom is also further developed and well done. The plot thickens ;-)
As for Laurel Schroeder's narration, she does great voices and I liked her intonations and rythm to narration so much in this one. She transported the feelings of the protagonists very well.

I love Fantasy and that's probably why this type of paranormal romance always draws me in the most.

We have Wyn who is a demi-god living with her adoptive parents. They know that she is not actually human. At her 22nd birthday she is supposed to visit her birth mother. She is escorted by four guardians, servants and protectors to the gods.

The guardians and Wyn have fantastic chemistry and their time together is wonderfully tingly without ever getting awkward.

They are all likable characters although the guardians don't get as fleshed out as the main protagonist, which makes sense and works just fine. As for her, she's likable. When she gets whiny, she follows it up with "I know I'm whiny" which I found kind of adorable.

Laurel Schroeder did a great narration. Sometimes she falls into a melodic way of reading which I'm not a fan of. But her voices and intonations are always absolutely perfect and overall I do enjoy listening to her.

This is definitely a want-to-continue series for me and I recommend it to anyone who wants to try out RH.

I have a secret. A secret that chased me away from my home, my family, away from the only man I've ever loved. I took that secret and pushed it down inside of me.So far down, that it never had a chance of coming out. That dirty little secret was like a seed. A seed that took root and grew to become a piece of me. But what happens when that secret has finally outgrown me? When its vines climb over every wall I have in place? When it finally overfills that little spot inside of me that it's been buried in for so long now? All secrets come out eventually.

This is a very emotional second chance novel with a very sweet ending.

I really liked the narration by Sarah Puckett. She has great voices and accents and her way of narration brought out how hurt Lex and Striker are. Her intonations were always on point and I was captivated even though the story wasn't my favourite.

The story simply wasn't what I had expected. For me it was lacking real drama and angst. The story flows nicely and a part of me of course loves the way everything gets resolved. However, I would have wished that the stakes had been higher, that the secret had been more serious and that the reason Lex left her home for a long time had been more profound.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.

This audiobook production was really outstanding! But sadly, the story disappointed me a bit.

This book is an award-finalist, so obviously I don’t really know what’s good. But let me list the problems I had with the story:

#1 The secret of the protagonist’s new companion, the “mysterious stranger”, is apparent pretty early on. Yet Jenna herself only figures it out in the second half of the book. The reason for that felt very weak to me. I know this is a tool that some people love (knowing something that the protagonist doesn’t), but for me, it just doesn’t work. It made me think she’s a bit daft 🙁

#2 The story didn’t have a very good flow. The pacing was off for me and I found it difficult to figure out where we were going and what the point of everything was.

#3 Jenna is a very serious young lady. Her companions try to banter and flirt but she only gets super annoyed and would seriously prefer to be ambushed. This bothered me because it just made her not very likeable. Of course not every protagonist has to crank out the jokes. But her reaction to her friends flirting and joking felt way too harsh.

On to some positive aspects. A female protagonist, and one male, one female sidekick? That was already awesome in Buffy and it makes for a great slayer.. uhh.. Hunter team! The paranormal concept of vampires using a glamour to appear attractive was creative. Damn bloodsuckers don’t always have to be perfect!

Now that I’m done, I can say that the storyline overall has some good substance. But it took me a long time to finish this and I interrupted it for two other audiobooks because I was bored. “Hunting in Bruges” just didn’t grab me. The pace picked up a bit in the second half though.

As I said initially, the audio production was fantastic. It was a new to me concept and I truly wish everyone would do it like this! Melanie A. Mason is the main narrator. The story is told entirely from Jenna’s point of view so that makes sense. But the bonus is, that Anthony Bowling is narrating all male characters’ lines. Not only are both narrators really great, with very distinct voices, but the editing is done very well, so the men’s lines fit in seamlessly. The narration itself was very captivating.

I so wanted to love this audiobook. Because it’s a great Urban Fantasy concept and the production is so amazing. But I just can’t.
