Christmas has never been Katie Seddon’s favourite time of year. Whilst everyone else shares memories of families coming together and festive number ones, the soundtrack to Katie’s childhood wasn’t quite so merry. But since she moved to the village of Budbury on the gorgeous Dorset coast, Katie and her baby son have found a new family. A family who have been brought together by life’s unexpected roads and the healing magic of a slice of cake and a cupful of kindess at the Comfort Food Café.

I lost my paperback copy of this book a few years ago and I have had a hard time finding it again (I have the complete series apart from this one) and when I tried getting it on audible before it said it was not available in my country - so when I saw it this time I jumped on it! 😁
I am way older then the recommended age group for this book but I don't care - I love them all.

This book was just brilliant. To start with I must admit that with Will Wheaton reading the story all I could hear was Wesley Crusher... But then the story took over and he was Wade. I got totally immersed in the story and was amazed at the mention of Pern and Ringworld - both worlds that are not as well known as some others. Can't wait to hear what happens next! 😁

I enjoyed the book. The story line is very addictive but the delivery sounded like a bad text-to-speach job. Awkward delivery that sounded like one long sentence with pauses in odd places. No personality coming through at all. Not sure I want to next books if they are all going to be like this.

For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those who enter these mythical places of power: why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart.

Elizabeth Moon is one of my favourite authors and I was most definitely not disappointed with this one. The story was very good and I badly want to see that under ground base and work out what or who built it! Just like the rest of the series there was plenty of action without overdoing the techno talk, good characters and more then enough left unexplained for another couple of books. Hope we don't have to wait to long for the next one. 😁

This story was brought to life by the fantastic readers involved. Especially Grace Kelly.
This is a lighter story then the last one I listened to 'Battle Mage' and quite funny in places. Still it tells a serious story about volcanos and learning to love and care again.

Would you listen to Battle Magic again? Why?

Yes - because I found the writing brilliant and so engaging that I just have to hear it again

What was one of the most memorable moments of Battle Magic?

When Evvey found her cats after the torture - I don't want to ruin it for others so that's all I'm going to say about it.

Which character – as performed by Nancy Wu – was your favourite?

Evvey. I think that the character development- the personality that is emerging- is going to be amazing.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Their lifes where not easy before .Briar - a thief living on the streets until he got caught once to often. Evvey a run away slave who was struggling to get enough food for herself and her 7 cats - but little did they know it was going to get even harder.

Any additional comments?

I will get the rest of this series. This feels like a more grownup type of story - Tamara's books have never been all roses and good times but this seems to have some subjects that stand out . I always thought it would be fun seeing her interact with the other girls in Briars life too.

One of the genre's favorite pair return in a classic fantasy short for both Riyria veterans and first-time readers. Several years have past since the war-weary mercenary Hadrian and cynical ex-assassin Royce joined forces to start their thieves-for-hire organization better known as Riyria. Things have gone well enough for the team as they do "jobs" for various nobles throughout Elan. Usually, that means stealing something, but when a young heiress asks them to steal her…well, that's a first for the pair. All is not as it seems, but Royce is determined to get the bottom of what's actually going on. After all, he has his professional integrity at stake.

Where does FREE: Professional Integrity (A Riyria Chronicles Tale) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Quite low - but I think that was because I've never read anything of the series before and I found it hard to get interested in the characters.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I'm not sure as I found myself sort of zoning out

Did Tim Gerard Reynolds do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Yes he did but I found the narrative boring

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really but like I said that's probably because I found it hard to connect with the characters

Any additional comments?

The book itself was well written I just couldn't get into it .

Stephanie Harrington had always expected to be a forest ranger on her homeworld of Meyerdahl until her parents relocated to the frontier planet of Sphinx in the far distant Star Kingdom of Manticore. It should have been the perfect new home - a virgin wilderness full of new species of every sort, just waiting to be discovered. But Sphinx is a far more dangerous place than ultra-civilized Meyerdahl, and Stephanie's explorations come to a sudden halt when her parents lay down the law: no trips into the bush without adult supervision!

Would you listen to A Beautiful Friendship again? Why?

Yes because I love being so wrapped up in the story that you feel that you are on the inside watching it as it happens.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It has to be Stephanie - the pure determination and intelligence of this girl is amazing plus I feel she has a good relationship with her parents - could do with a few friends mind you lol

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

It was very good and the voices almost matched how I imagined them in my head

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but work and sleep kept getting in the way ....plus I wanted it to last for as long as I could.

Any additional comments?

I will be getting the other in the series. I feel this could be my new obsession
