Love Simon Vance so much but couldn’t get into this book. Listened to the end but half heartedly, I think it was the personality of the Prince Ergon, if that is the correct name. Cocky, big headed and I couldn’t bear him. Sorry, but I won’t be listening to book 2.

This was not the “horror book” I expected but maybe I expect to much with the word horror. However, the story was great with it being set in the eerie atmosphere of snowy, dark Norway which added a chilling atmosphere. The best part of this book was the narrator, Mr Northam , the best sounding voice so far in all my downloads. Very clear, interesting and by God, he read this brilliantly. Change of tone where needed, hesitating and atmospheric where needed and overall excellent. Would love to hear more from him in the future. Would recommend this book to all.

Watched the film first and this book helped explain a couple of things to me I may have missed in the film. Obviously Stephen Fry as narrator is great and the story is fine. On reflection, maybe a little too short. Will not rush to download the second book just yet.

This is a great follow up to the first book. I love the narrators voice, very pleasant and easy going. I smiled lots of times and Aaah 'd and shed a tear at the end. Will download the others later as they are a lovely 😌 relaxed listen.

I read this book and watched the film πŸŽ₯ years ago, probably 20 plus and as I listened I could see parts of the film. I am always wary of American narrators but God is this lady good. A nice subtle accent and read beautifully, with feeling, aggression and softness just right every time. I had forgotten how good this book is. There were moments when I abruptly shut my IPAD as I was so tense and had to stop, only to resume within 5 minutes as I was so gripped. I would highly recommend this to any King fan and in fact ANY book lover. 5 stars and more πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ™€

Well Monty has surprised me as a narrator of his book. A lovely voice, humorous, soft and easy to listen too. I smiled lots and had the lump in my throat at the sad parts. This is a very relaxing book to listen too. Would recommend highly.

I read this book about 2 years ago and listening to it was better. The narrator has a wonderful, slightly husky voice and when illustrating a female voice, it made me smile. This was an amazing listen and I was disappointed to have JUST finished it. Top marks πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Great to hear this book as Frankenstein on TV or film does not reflect the true story. Realised I felt sorry for the creation and he was no real monster. Read wonderfully by Mr Jacobi, as anticipated. Great listen.
