Best one yet....

5 out of 5 stars

This is a GREAT audiobook. Excellent story, excellently read. I felt that Peter James had really defined each character, with a particularly well-observed depiction of young teens. Even the regulars felt more rounded and three-dimensional than ever before. It is rare that I feel bereft when a book ends - this is one of those rare times.

I downloaded this one with trepidation, as the description was so far removed from what I would normally buy. But I decided - take a chance, it's really long, so excellent value! I am SO pleased I did. The story does not have a plot per se, but the characterisation and dialogue are just wonderful. I feel like I know the protagonist and his circle of acquaintances intimately, and they are all beautifully drawn. Thoroughly recommended.

and..i was impressed generally. Good action, good plot. Reservations are that the characters were not terribly well-rounded, and most of all, there was no epilogue. What happened after the action??? It is a compliment to the book that I wanted to know this, but the ending was too stark. I would like to read more.
