The Knights Templar were the wealthiest, most powerful - and most secretive - of the military orders that flourished in the crusading era. Their story - encompassing as it does the greatest international conflict of the Middle Ages, a network of international finance, a swift rise in wealth and influence followed by a bloody and humiliating fall - has left a comet's tail of mystery that continues to fascinate and inspire historians, novelists and conspiracy theorists. Unabridged edition read by Dan Jones.

I love all of Dan Jones' TV shows and didn't hesitate to download his audiobooks. They are everything I expected and delivered a great performance every time. One of my all time favourite historians. Even my husband has started to enjoy his history programmes on TV and my husband is a devout hipster with no interest in nerdy history nonsense.

The performances are a little cringe-worthy and sometimes the dialogue is somewhat cliche. The overall story is interesting and I'm looking forward to parts 2 and 3. The storyline had me interested, my only criticism is the excecution of the performances. I felt the parts were over-acted but the story makes up for it and I really did enjoy the audiobook.

Weak in a few places but this book is setting up the story for the next three books and TFLK is still a great read.
There are characters in this book that you could call "old favourites" but I won't say more as I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it yet.
Overall, TFLK is definitely worth reading and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Where does The Lost World rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Really brilliant listen and great narration

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This audio book had me hooked from start to finish. I hated finishing my work and having to switch off my audio book as I just wanted to carry on listening.

In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house, but the property - complete with boathouse and swimming pool - and the price were too good to pass up. This is the shocking true story of an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining for the Lutz family, who were forced to flee their new home in terror.

In the child's room, an odd smell, the displacement of furniture, an icy chill. At first, easy explanations are offered. Then frightening changes begin to appear in eleven-year-old Regan. Medical tests fail to shed any light on her symptoms, but it is as if a different personality has invaded her body.
