AS A BIG FAN OF THIS AUTHOR I WAS DISAPPOINTED BY THIS BOOK WHICH FOLLOWS THE STORY LINE OF THE FIRST BAXTER -PRATCHETT BOOK TOO CLOSELY.WAS ALSO DISAPPOINTED BY THE WAY THE MOMENTUM OF THE STORY SAGGED BADLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOOK.HOPE HE DOES NOT WRITE ANY MORE OF THIS SERIES ANY CONTINUATION WOULD PROBABLY ONLY MIRROR THE BAXTER- PRATCHETT BOOKS.SAVING GRACE WAS THE NARRATOR WHO DID A BRILLIANT JOB WITH SOME BLAND CHARACTERS.

WAS DISAPOINTED WITH THIS AS I WAS EXPECTING MUCH MORE INVENTION AND ORIGINALITY HAVING READ SEVERAL OF RALPH KERNS PREVIOUS BOOKS.THIS IS BASICALLY THE START OF WORLD WAR 2 SET IN A SPACE CONTEXT IT FOLLOWS THE BASIC STORY THROUGH TO THE END OF THE DUNKIRK EVACUATION.THE CHARACTERISATION IS GOOD BUT IN THIS BOOK THERE ARE NO SURPRISES.THE SAVING GRACE IS THE EXCELLENT NARRATION.IF YOU LIKE MILITARY SCI-FI AND DON'T KNOW THE WORLD WAR 2 STORY YOU SHOULD BE FINE WITH THIS.PERSONALLY SHALL NOT BE BUYING THE NEXT BOOK PLEASE DO BETTER NEXT TIME MR.KERN.

KEPT ME INTERESTED ALL THE WAY TO THE END ALTHOUGH THIS COULD BE THE NARRATOR WHO WAS EXCELLENT.FOUND THE STORY RATHER SUPERFICIAL,TENDING TO JUMP FROM ONE ACTION SCENE TO ANOTHER.THE CHARACTERS WERE RATHER UNBELIEVABLE HAVING NO DEPTH HOWEVER OVERALL IF YOU LIKE BOOKS FULL OF ACTION THIS IS WORTH READING.
