I'm an illusionist, not a psychic. Going on TV is supposed to advance my career, but things go wrong. Like vampires and zombies kind of wrong. My name is Sasha Urban, and this is how I learned what I am.

I'm loving this book so far - one line in particular made me literally laugh out loud (unintentionally I think!). The heroine is feeling poorly and turns to the internet for help: "...I googled 'Stroke' and 'Pleasure' but didn't get many hits, so..."

In a world full of super powers, Felix has a pretty crappy one. He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything. Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game. Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities. With that in mind, Felix settled into a normal life. A normal job. His entire world changes when the city he lives in is taken over by a super villain. Becoming a country of one city. A city state.

Not only is the book absolutely brilliant, but then narration here is excellent. I don't want to spoil anything, but it turns out to be a very different book than the short audio excerpt seems to indicate. 111/10! [yes, 111]

I can only hope that book 2 is narrated asap.

My name is Alice Long, and I've always known I was different. When I was little I used to climb up to the highest branches of the housetree at night, and watch the starships docking at the orbital stations high above. Forty meters off the ground, watching ships 30,000 kilometers overhead, with senses that could pick out radar pings and comm chatter as easily as the ships themselves. It all seemed perfectly natural at the time.

This was a real surprise find for me. Came up as a kindle recommendation just after I bought another book in an on-going series & I purchased not expecting great things (didn't know the author, but it looked interesting). What I found was an amazingly detailed world/galaxy filled with great characters & it was brought to life by the very talented narrator.

Samantha Martin is an imp, enjoying an extended vacation from Hel. All she wants to do is drink beer by the pool, play mischievous pranks on the humans, and get her hot neighbor in the sack. It's a relaxing break from her infernal home as long as she manages to avoid the angels, who won't hesitate to execute her on sight. But when her naughty hellhound lands her in trouble with the local werewolf pack, Sam is blackmailed into helping track and catch a killer. The steps she must take to appease the werewolves will put her right in the crosshairs of the angels.

Obviously this is a subjective view, so your milage may vary. It's also only based on the first 1.5hrs of the book - I gave up at that point...

I found the narration of this excellent book to be a let-down - although *not* monotone, it often seemed that way. For me at least, none of the main charcter's 'quirkyness' was brought to life, whereas when you read the book if fairly leaps off the page.
