This is a wonderful book, slowly adding layers and has some wonderful characters. What makes this stand out is the utterly brilliant reading. One of, if not the best, I have heard in the 40 or so books so far listened too. Anyone who enjoys a very British spy book will enjoy this.

Wonderful book with really well written characters. Great weaving story that leaves you gripped. Really like the writing style and the narration is spot on. Has all the traditional spy charters in, the old boys network, the people on the ground and lots of spy craft. You never really sure of who to trust. Superb.

Having listened to the 19th Century book previously and enjoying it I was thrilled to see this come up. Once again a vivid and detailed book about the city. The main characters, the trends and the fashions. All subjects are covered well. Very well read indeed. On to the 20th century now!

This is a truly fresh and amazing book. It's detailed and yet moved along at a real pace. The science is wonderful and easy to follow and there are quite a few tense moments. Wonderfull read, essential listen. One of my favourites so far.

I downloaded this book based on the rather wonderful cover and subject. So I was thrilled to find this is an outstanding classic Cold War book with wonderful characters, story and those essential upper class Englishmen in offices and clubs that all these types of books needs.Very nicely read also. Would love some more of this period from Andrew Williams who clearly has a flair for it. Anyone interested in the spy world of this period would enjoy this.

Second part of the essential works of Churchill. Wonderfully read also. The story continues and the great powers come to a deadlock. Churchill comes across as a man who wants to think outside the box and perhaps is ahead of his time. Onto the last part..

I enjoyed this book. I think the work done by Mark Williams-Thomas is remarkable and I admire his skills and efforts. The book gives a really good insight into the world of modern crime. Sometimes sad and sometimes dangerous. The audio editing is a bit choppy though.
