Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Everything I Know About Love, written and read by Dolly Alderton. A spot-on, wildly funny and sometimes heartbreaking book about growing up, growing older and navigating all kinds of love along the way. When it comes to the trials and triumphs of becoming a grown-up, journalist and former Sunday Times dating columnist Dolly Alderton has seen and tried it all.

My Audible library is primarily full of romance listens, with a few odd books that don’t fit the mould. Everything I Know about Love is one of these exceptions, one of the few books I can recommend and I think my friends won’t judge me badly on. I loved the snippets of Dolly’s life, and thought her writing was eloquent and her descriptive language beautiful. There were times were I just laughed out loud, times where sadness swooped in, it was relatable on so many levels, and if I personally hadn’t experienced what Dolly was writing about I could think of a friend who had been through something similar. Dolly’s story of friendships with her female friends was powerful, and I’m glad she shared this. Brilliantly narrated, and please, Dolly, can we have an update in ten years!

So, this is me. Lily Allen. I am a woman. I am a mother. I was a wife. I drink. I have taken drugs. I have loved and been let down. I am a success and a failure. I am a songwriter. I am a singer. I am all these things and more. When women share their stories, loudly and clearly and honestly, things begin to change - for the better. This is my story.

I found Lily’s thoughts and self-reflections both heart warming and also terribly sad at times. It confirmed my opinion of her: that although she behaves badly at times, and admits it, she does have a good heart. I hope she continues to find happiness, and uses her voice to speak out. And, Lily reading her own book made it all the better, well done for taking the time to do this!

Getting to the end of this book was a real chore! Lance Greenfield’s narration just didn’t seem to work for me, his tone was that of a suspense book, with every sentence feeling like he was narrating some kind of very important scene where he felt the need to emphasise far too much. Johnny was not my cup of tea, and interestingly I found myself liking the supporting characters more than the main two. I will not be recommending this book to any of my friends and am just glad I made it to the end.

But when you have changed to the point of no return, how can anything ever be the same? Seven years later, Dean Martin waltzed back into my life in hopes of resuming what I had fought so hard to forget, but he was in for a wake-up call. I was no longer the naïve woman he had left...and I was no longer his.

The idea isn’t a new one, people finding each other again, but the book just seemed to drag on for me. I kind of liked them at the beginning, but by the end of the book I was throughly bored of them and wanted it to be the end. I’d lost the passion for them both, so that they just became irritating! Dallas’s constant reference to her vagina was also a little bit crass, losing some of the sensuality of the book for me. I won’t be reading the next in series. This book is about a couple, d

I've made every one of my billions of dollars myself - I'm calculating, astute and the best at what I do. It takes drive and dedication to build what I have. And it leaves no time for love or girlfriends or relationships. But don't get me wrong, I'm not a monk. I understand the attention and focus it takes to seduce a beautiful woman. They're the same skills I use to close business deals. But one night is where it begins and ends. I'm not the guy who sends flowers. I'm not the guy who calls the next day.

This is a love at first sight book. It's cute, and whilst the characters are perfectly nice, they lack a bit of grit. Grace, the Park Avenue Princess, bewitches Sam, the man who apparently cannot fall in love. Their lives become interwoven and romance blossoms. It's a nice book, but I think Louise Bay has written better male leads.

I loved this book because it was real. It showed love in all its forms, some not very pretty. It narrated the tale of a woman unhappy in her marriage, detailing her emotions and how someone else provided comfort when her husband did not. This book is gritty, sexy, sad. It's real life, not perfect and bittersweet. I get the ending, I do, but without wanting to spoil it, I wish it ended differently.

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn't exactly make a good impression. I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date. He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice. So I told him to mind his own damn business and went back to my miserable date. I couldn't help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

The whole sleeping with the boss concept is nothing new, but the story of Reese and Chase is simply adorable. From the very first moment they meet in a restaurant, both on separate dates, the sparks are there, and they only intensify when they start working together. Chase Parker is arrogant, funny, sensitive, gorgeous, but has his own baggage to deal with; Reese is smart, completely likeable, vulnerable, and completely falls under Chase's spell. This is just a lovely read, one of those books that just warms the heart.

A tyrant by day, a playboy by night. That's the reputation that precedes Richard VanRyan. He lives life the way he wants, no concern for the opinion of others. He cares for no one, is completely unrepentant, and has no desire to change his ways. Katharine Elliott works under Richard as his PA. She despises him and his questionable ethics, but endures all the garbage he sends her way, because she needs the job.

The Contract is one of those books that doesn't take much attention to read. It's story is simple, and the characters aren't that complex either. Richard VanRyan, tyrant and playboy, entices his PA to fake being his wife so that he can land a job. What starts out as a simple business arrangement turns into something else for them both. The plot is predictable, but likeable, but there is a certain sexiness that is missing for me. It's all very sweet, but lacks passion.

Anna Zaires is the queen at writing dark romance. Twist me was the first book I had read of hers, and whilst utterly disturbing and like nothing I had ever read before, she hooked me. Lucas Kent from the Capture Me trilogy is one of my favourite book boyfriends. Sebastian york as the male narrator for this book lured me, he is awesome and Tormentor mine is no exception! If you like Anna's work then definitely give this a read. I'm not going to lie, I didn't feel this was the most powerful of love story, but it is a good book nonetheless.
