Absolutely love the department Q books, there is nothijg bad you can say about them. Steven Pacey is sublime but after hearing the new narrator on the last 2 books, his contribution to the story becomes even more apparent. A well thought out story line with the perfect amount of seriousness and comedy. Bravo

Awful, repetitive, not storyline to speak ok

This is quite possibly the worst book I have ever listened to. Vampire finds mate, vampire rants on like a dog on heat until he finally has his way with his mate, and repeat with a new vampire and mate. It was like hearing the same 3 chapters over and over just with diffetent characters, the only difference being the way they met. As for the narrator, well there are 2 voices she can do, a male one, and a female one, so was hard to even follow which character was which. I kept listening out of sheer morbid curiosity and in the vain hope that the story would actually go somewhere, it didn't. What a waste of time

disappointed doesn't begin to cover it...

After the abysmal descision to get rid of Steven Pacey as the narrator of the last book. and the numerous readers who complained that they wanted him back, i really was hoping to see the return of steven as the narrator for this. Alas, this wasn't the case, and as such the book, like the last was totally ruined for me. The story was slow and boring and I couldn't quite figure out where it was going. The massive jump in time made no sense and to be fair It may have improved but although I tried to stick with it i could not bear to listen past chapter 20. If I had 1 wish ircwoukd be to have Stecen Pacey redo this and the last book so I can enjoy what had been up to the last book, one of my all time favourite series.

After what seems like a lifetime of waiting for the next chapter of what i call the Tony Hill and Carol Jordan saga, I was more than eager to get started-I was not disappointed. The story builds and flows effortlessly and I was enthralled from the start. the only thing that let it down a bit was the narrator. his voices all sound the same and his attempt at accents was laughable. luckily the writing was strong enough to get past that. Thoroughly enjoyed it and am only disappointed that I finished it so quickly! Another 5star offering from Val McDermid.

couldnt listen due to the awful naaration.I was so excited when I saw a new separtment Q book was available I pressed 'buy now' without noticing that the narrator had changed- I just wanted to hear Asad's voice again. Steven Pacey made these books for me, and I really cannot fathom why someone would decude to choose someone else. I really tried to listen but I just couldn't get into it at all. If this were to be re dons with Steven back in narrator duties I would definitelt but it again, but for me this was just a waste of a credit. In future I will be reading reviews and listening to a sample before purchasing. dissapointed is an understatement 😐
