All of us have what it takes to make it in today's competitive and changing world. You may have doubted your ability to get the job done in the past, but something else may have been getting in the way of your success. The key to ultimate achievement has very little to do with your education or skill level. The secret to accomplishing great things is simple: Find and pursue the kind of work you are meant to do - your "purpose."

If you could sum up The Power of Purpose in three words, what would they be?

Inspires hope and a future

What did you like best about this story?

Its not a story as such as an account of someone's life who has succeeded in the face of adversity.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I enjoy listening to all of it and will relisten probably every day for part of the day for the next month.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Whilst I have enjoyed listening to many motivational speakers over the years - after listening to Les Brown the penny finally dropped and I am not the same person.

Any additional comments?

Anyone who has had any personal tragedy, marriage breakup, redundancy, bankruptcy and wonder whether there is a future would benefit from listening. Les Brown has the most outrageous laugh (very mischievious/infectious). I always prefer books to be read by the actual author which this is.

  • A Survival Guide to Parenting Teens

Turn back the clocks! Your sweet child has morphed into a teen. And it's no longer just a messy bedroom or an attitude with a capital "A" causing concern. There's a whole new range of issues on the horizon. What if your daughter texts a naked picture to a "boyfriend" ...which he then forwards to the entire class? What if your son becomes increasingly withdrawn...Or your child is being bullied online? Would you know what to do? You could read a whole book on teen psychology - but who has the time!

What did you like most about A Survival Guide to Parenting Teens?

Practical, practical, practical (read too many theoretical books). This book just hits all the right spots and the humour helps too. Opened my eyes. I have 4 children - 2 are already teenagers and one is just out of it. The information is relevant for parents who have children living with them of any age. Providing young people with strageies to get out of their mess is superb advice.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Survival Guide to Parenting Teens?

Teaching adults how to desensitize themselves from using rude expressions, LOL. Needed for straight talking to your teens. Joani tells you to go into your bathroom and say the word out loud 100 times!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no

Any additional comments?

I am recommending it to other parents and carers because its the real deal.

A very good book with practical advice (for a change) - I keep listening to it over and over again. It is not narrated by the authors and shouldnt be described as such, the narrators are a very tradition male English voice called James Adams and an American sounding female called Laura DeRocha.
