I have read (listened to) a lot of litRPG and similar over the past year or so. This book is much less geared towards stats although levels and skills do play a large role in the story. This book is really centred around the characters and their development. I have to say it's an amazing journey to be a part of, it has everything and eventhough the book is very long, time flew past and I was left wanting more. The narrator is simply stunning and does an incredible job, really brings the characters alive and grips you into the story. Worth 5 stars all day.

Really enjoyed this book, lots of detail and well written. Will be getting the next book to see where the story goes.

Overall I enjoyed the book and narrators performance. I feel this would be a good book to introduce someone to the dungeon core genre. Stats and classes etc. were well explained.

Listened to the whole thing for fairness

For me, books of this genre have to have a main character that you find likeable, interesting or relatable in some way. By the first few chapters I disliked him, by the end of the book I couldn't
stand him. A whiny, pretentious, entitled and spoiled rich kid with 'friends' of exactly the same ilk.
They are thrown together into a school with equally, if not more so pretentious and condescending 'teachers' who's personalities grate from beginning to end.
For balance, I think there's an interesting story in there somewhere and the world that the writer creates is interesting to a point. But the fact that almost every character is unlikable, explanation of plot points are drawn out to tortureous levels means that the book becomes such a chore and any passion for finding out how the story develops simply evaporates.
I think the narrator does the best job he can with the material he has.
I was hoping for so much more based on the good reviews.

Brilliantly told story but the first sections suspense quickly gives way to a non eventful rest of the story.
