Jessie has kept the identity of her son Oliver's father a secret for years. She's stunned when she discovers that the man in question, actor Toby Gillespie, has just moved in next door. The truth's about to come out. One glance at Oliver, and a little mental arithmetic, and Toby has the situation sussed. Meeting the son he never knew he had is the shock of a lifetime. It's a shock, too, for Toby's wife, the beautiful Deborah, though she seems to take it in her stride.

Charlie hates the holidays, and this year is shaping up to be her worst yuletide ever. Her boyfriend has left her for his personal trainer, her flat is out of bounds after a gas leak, and her mother has gone to spend Christmas in Melbourne with her fifth husband. Finding herself single, mildly concussed and temporarily homeless, Charlie hesitantly agrees to dust off her wellies and spend the festive season in Devon, looking after Cosy Canine Cottages, her cousin Jez's dog-care centre.....

wow, what an amazing man, book, story, loved it from the first word! read it!
Frim the first word of the book I was engrossed - he Dr Shepherd is the most amazing gentleman, we understood his childhood upto starting his first autopsy at 30 - all that training! The stories which he told were with compassion, and understanding, and he was able to draw us into each case.
The sight this gentleman has seen are explained with care and intensity, that I was sat crying but couldn't switch off, How he explained Hungerford and The Marchoness disaster were with such clear eyes.
Dr Shepherd (without giving to much away) affected me deeply - I would love to one day meet this gentleman and just Thank him for all he did!
