Here is a gripping, behind-the-scenes look inside the classic suspense shocker Psycho - and the creative genius who revolutionized filmmaking. First released in June 1960, Psycho altered the landscape of horror films forever. But just as compelling as the movie itself is the story behind it. Stephen Rebello brings to life the creation of one of Hollywood’s most iconic films, from the story of Wisconsin murderer Ed Gein, the real-life inspiration for the character of Norman Bates, to Hitchcock’s groundbreaking achievements in cinematography, sound, editing, and promotion.

Would you try another book written by Stephen Rebello or narrated by Paul Michael Garcia?

I REALLY LOOKED FORWARD TO LISTENING TO THIS BOOK, AS THERE HAD BEEN A LOT OF AD'S ON THE FILM. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH STEPHEN REBELLO, OR THE NARRATOR. I HAVE NOT READ ANY OTHER BOOKS BY REBELLO THAT I REMEMBER,THOGH IF THE STORY WAS OF SOME INTEREST TO ME I MIGHT TRY ANOTHER OF HIS BOOKS. THE NARRATOR WAS ALSO OK, I'M SORRY THAT THIS BOOK WAS NOTHING LIKE I EXPECTED IT TO BE AT ALL.

What was most disappointing about Stephen Rebello’s story?

EVERYTHING!!! HAVING WATCHED MANY HITCHCOCK FILMS, AND HEARD MANY STORIES OF HOW HE TREATED HIS LEADING LADIES ETC I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WHOLE BOOK. IT WAS SO BAD I DID NOT LISTEN TO ALL OF IT.AND ASKED TO CHANGE IT, WHAT MORE CAN I SAY???

How did the narrator detract from the book?

THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE NARRATOR, I'M SORRY THIS WAS NOT A GOOD BOOK.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho?

AS I'VE SAID I HAVE SEEN MANY OF HIS FILM'S ALSO THIS ONE, MANY YEARS AGO. WHICH WAS EXCELLENT, AND ALL THE SCENES WERE VERY GOOD.
THIS BOOK WAS NOT FOR ME AT ALL.

Any additional comments?

I THINK I HAVE SAID ALL I CAN, SORRY TO SAY THE WHOLE THING WAS A COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT.
I DON'T THNK I WOLD LISTEN TO ANOTHER BOOK ON HITCHCOCK.

For the first time, comedian Jack Dee reveals the highs and lows of his early life and disastrous day jobs. You don't just wake up jaundiced and bitter; it's taken Jack years of dedication and commitment to brew his unique cocktail of disillusionment and bile. What turned this once optimistic young man into a grumpy middle-aged git? Was it working in an artificial-leg factory?

The tragedy of the Donner party constitutes one of the most amazing stories of the American West. In 1846, 87 people, men, women, and children, set out for California, persuaded to attempt a new overland route. After struggling across the desert, losing many oxen, and nearly dying of thirst, they reached the very summit of the Sierras, only to be trapped by blinding snow and bitter storms. Many perished; some survived by resorting to cannibalism; all were subjected to unbearable suffering.

From the day she was born, Charlotte won the hearts of her subjects and yet behind the scenes she was used, abused and victimized by rivalries-between her parents; between her Father (the Prince Regent, later George IV) and (Mad King) George III: between her tutors, governesses and other members of her discordant household; and ultimately between the Whigs and the Tories. Her death in childbirth-the result of medical incompetence-was followed by an unseemly scramble to produce a substitute heir.

Frank W. Abagnale was one of the most daring con men, forgers, imposters, and escape artists in history. In his brief but notorious criminal career, Abagnale donned a pilot's uniform and copiloted a Pan Am jet, masqueraded as the supervising resident of a hospital, practiced law without a license, passed himself off as a college sociology professor, and cashed over $2.5 million in forged checks, all before he was 21. His story is now a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.

Would you listen to Catch Me If You Can again? Why?

YES!! I FOUND THIS BOOK IN PARTS VERY FUNNY,EVEN THOUGH WHAT HE DID WAS WRONG.
IT WAS AMAZING HOW HE GOT AWAY WITH EVERYTHING, AND AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE. IT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD SO MANY TIMES.
THERE WERE ALSO SOME VERY GRIM PARTS AS WHEN HE WAS IN A FRENCH PRISON,AND THE BARBARIC CONDITIONS,AND TREATMENT UNDER WHICH HE WAS KEPT.
WHEN HE WAS THEN HANDED OVER TO THE DUTCH AUTHORITIES WHERE HE WAS ALSO WANTED,HIS TREATMENT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. HE COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW DIFFERENT, AND SO MUCH BETTER THINGS WERE. AS HE WAS WANTED BY SO MANY OTHER PLACES WHERE HE HAD FORGED CHEQUES ETC, IT MEANT THAT AS HE WAS RELEASED FROM ONE PRISON,OTHER COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD WERE WAITING TO ARREST HIM.
I AM NOT A VERY GOOD REVIEWER, AS I FIND WRITING DIFFICULT DUE TO SIGHT PROBLEMS.
I DON'T WANT TO SAY MUCH MORE AS I FEEL IT MAY SPOIL YOUR ENJOYMENT OF THIS BOOK. IT IS WELL WORTH A LISTEN, AND I WOULD CERTAINLY LIKE TO SEE THE FILM OF THIS STORY.
THE NARRATOR BARRETT WHITENER, WAS IN MY HUMBLE OPINION EXCELLENT.
A
THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE BOOK,WHICH I THINK IS REALLY WORTH A LISTEN.
I SHALL LOOK OUT FOR MORE OF THIS TYPE OF BOOK. I WILL ALSO LISTEN TO IT AGAIN AFTER A BREAK OF A COUPLE OF MONTHS.

What other book might you compare Catch Me If You Can to, and why?

I'M AFRAID I CAN NOT COMPARE THIS BOOK TO OTHERS,AS ITS THE FIRST ONE I HAVE LISTENED TO OF THIS GENRE.

What does Barrett Whitener bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS AS AN AUDIO BOOK, AS I'M UNABLE TO READ ANYMORE.
AS I HAVE SAID ABOVE BARRETT WHITENER WAS AN EXCELLENT NARRATOR.
HIS DIFFERENT ACCENTS,MADE YOU FEEL THAT YOU WERE ACTUALLY THERE WITH FRANK ABAGNALE WHEREVER,OR WHATEVER HE WAS DOING.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

NOT SURE WHAT I COULD SAY, I UNDERSTAND THAT A FILM HAS BEEN MADE. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT ITS CALLED, BUT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT.

Any additional comments?

I WOULD JUST SAY IF YOU ENJOY THIS TYPE OF GENRE,WHICH IS BASED ON A TRUE STORY IT WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH IN MANY PARTS. ITS ALSO A LITTLE GRIM THAT SUCH A YOUNG MAN GOT AWAY WITH ALL HE DID FOR SO LONG. I THINK THIS IS DUE TO JUST HOW OBSERVANT, AND CLEVER HE WAS AT FOOLING SO MANY WHO SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER.
A MUST READ BOOK.

The imprisonment and execution of Queen Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII's second wife, in 1536 was unprecedented in English history, and never before has there been a book devoted entirely to her fall. But here Alison Weir has reassessed the evidence and created a richly researched and detailed portrait of the last days of one of the most influential and important figures in English history.

Where does The Lady in the Tower rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

THIS HAS TO BE AT THE TOP!

Who was your favorite character and why?

ANNE BOLEYN! HAVING READ MANY BOOKS IN THE PAST, ABOUT HENRY THE EIGHTH, AND HIS SIX WIVES.THIS AUDIO BOOK SAID SO MUCH MORE ABOUT ANNE, AND HER LIFE BEFORE,AND AFTER HER THREE SHORT YEARS OF MARRIAGE TO HENRY THE EIGHTH.
IT WAS NOT ANNE WHO WANTED THIS MARRIAGE,AS SHE LOVED PERCY, BUT WHEN HENRY SET HIS EYES ON HER ,HER FATE WAS SEALED.ANNE BLAMED CARDINAL WOLSEY AND NEVER FORGAVE,OR FORGOT THAT HE HAD PERCY SENT AWAY,AND MARRIED.SHE THEN REFUSED TO BE HENRY'S MISTRESS. IF I SAY ANY MORE IT WOULD SPOIL THE STORY IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT..

Which scene did you most enjoy?

THE WAY ANNE STOOD HER GROUND,AND REFUSED TO GIVE IN TO HENRY'S ADVANCES UNLESS THEY WERE MARRIED.SHE TOOK A GREAT RISK IN DOING SO,AS HENRY WANTED HER TO BE HIS MISTRESS,LIKE HER SISTER HAD BEEN BEFORE HER.. THIS WAS NOT FOR ANNE AT ALL,SHE WANTED MORE THE INTRIGUES,AND PLANS BETWEEN HENRY, ANNE, AND WOLSEY WAS EXTREMELY INTERESTING,AND A VERY VIVID PICTURE OF ANNE WAS BROUGHT TO LIFE BY THE NARRATOR JUDITH BOYD.
ALISON WEIR IS EXTREMELY GOOD ON ROYAL HISTORY,AND I HAVE PURCHASED OTHER AUDIO BOOKS BY HER.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I FOUND THE WHOLE BOOK A MIXTURE OF EMOTIONS.

Any additional comments?

FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES THE HISTORY OF ROYALTY OF LONG AGO. I THINK THEY WOULD ENJOY THIS BOOK.

Would you consider the audio edition of Roots to be better than the print version?

IT IS A VERY GOOD VERSION OF THE BOOK, HAVING READ THE BOOK AND WATCHED THE TV SERIES, I CAN SAY THAT I'VE REALLY ENJOYED LISTENING TO THIS STORY. THE AUDIO VERSION HAS SO MUCH MORE INFORMATION THAN THE TELEVISION SERIES. I CAN REALLY RECOMEND ROOTS TO ANYONE WHO HAS AN INTEREST IN THIS KIND OF HISTORY. IT IS VERY SAD IN PARTS, BUT THERE IS ALSO HUMOUR,AS YOU FOLLOW THE LIVES OF THE CHARACTERS THROUGHOUT THE STORY.
WHAT MORE CAN I SAY? IT IS A REALLY GOOD LISTEN, I LISTENED TO ROOTS OVER SEVERAL DAYS. WHEN CLEANING, BAKING, IRONING ETC.IT TOOK ME AWAY TO THE TIME AND PLACE, WHERE THIS STORY BEGAN.

What did you like best about this story?

THAT THERE WAS SO MUCH MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE TIME BEFORE, AND AFTER KUNTA KINTE WAS CAPUTURED.

Have you listened to any of Avery Brooks’s other performances? How does this one compare?

NO BUT I WOULD IF IT WAS ANYTHING LIKE THIS ONE.
