I want my listeners to realize that the human mind is literally infinite. We project our awareness into the universe like a lighthouse. Every thought you have is felt by everything in existence. Can we afford not to take full advantage of that fact?

In this Audible Original, Ruby Wax hunts down her heroes - brain scientists - in the UK and across America, to learn more about what makes us tick: why we get stressed, how we feel pain, what makes us addicted - and has a lot of fun along the way. She faces death with Past Mortems author Carla Valentine, explores how video games affect our attention with gamification expert Gabe Zichermann, and discovers the benefits of vaginal smearing with Professor Tim Spector. Natural Born Learners author Alex Beard reveals what teenagers really need to know for a good education and visitors to a New York soup kitchen help Ruby confront her fear of compassion.

I grew up watching Ruby Meets and as an adult longed to see and hear her again, I listen out for any podcasts or snippets on you tube, but I thought that was it. Well audio book was definitely what I needed, I have probably done this backwards but this was her first book I listened to and will now be working my way through the rest of them. Super insightful, funny and refreshing.

Could happiness lie in helping others and being open to accepting help yourself? Mentors: How to Help and Be Helped describes the impact that a series of significant people have had on the author - from the wayward youths he tried to emulate growing up in Essex, through the first ex-junkie sage, to the people he turns to today to help him be a better father. It explores how we all - consciously and unconsciously - choose guides, mentors and heroes throughout our lives and examines the new perspectives they can bring.

Brilliant narration, will now look at his other books(s) after listening to this one. Very interesting topic and a welcome add on when you have listened to all his podcasts and find yourself wanting more. Thank you, Victoria

This book, which I listened to via audio books, was great. Insightful, compelling and written in a format/structure that I found very beneficial. My first ever audio, something I am no doubt hooked on now.
