Nice story with believable characters almost in spite of the basic premise. Laughed out loud a few times.

This story kept my interest and the narration was first class. However the plot descended into farcical connections and some of the decisions Cody made in the end are frankly unbelievable. Not sure I will read the inevitable sequel as I think this tale has stretched too far.

The first book set the scene for an enjoyable fantasy story with a dollop of romance - however by the end of this book I was getting heartily sick of the repetitve sex scenes and the plot did not seem to progress very far. Shame, as the heroine is very engaging but I don't think I would recommend this book.

Loved the heroine and some of her remarks made me laugh out loud and were very believable. However the sex scenes were very tiresome and repetitive and didn't fit too well with the narrative. However there were some interesting twists and some unanswered questions for the sequel.

This was a fairly good story and narrated well enough but it didn't keep my interest like Little Girl Lost.

Such a good story and even though this is a long book it thoroughly kept my interest all the way through - with some interesting twists and turns along the way. Very well told and so informative - I will look at any cathedrals now with new eyes, yet this is not a dry history book but a ripping yarn with well drawn characters.

I was not familiar with this Dickens book and so the storyline was new to me and surprisingly engrossing, although some of the passages concerning 'society' and their preoccupations went a little over my head (and dare I say it were a little boring?)

Still, it was well worth the effort to keep going and the end was satisfyingly wrapped up.

I really enjoyed the first series which was interesting and intriguing in equal measure, however the second series felt oddly out of sync with the first and somewhat lost my attention to the point I didn't finish it.

I was not sure about this at first - it took a while to get into it's stride, but the eventual plot as it was revealed was worth the wait.

This story had lots of suspense and not a little violence - very graphic, you have been warned! However the narrator was believable and the plot raced along nicely with some interesting characters too. Can't wait for the next Nathan Cody book.
