I was looking forward to this book tremendously and after listening to it I feel somewhat at a loss to describe how I feel about it. The narration is very good but Tim Curry who did the original old kingdom books was much, much better. The world in which the adventure take’s place was not expanded or fleshed out to give you a greater understanding of the charter or free magic. There was not enough meat on the bones of the characters to make you care enough about them But it is a solid stand alone adventure.
All in all a good book maybe over shadowed by my high expectations.

I had to download this as soon as I finished listening to The Darkest Minds (the first book in the series) Never Fade starts of where the last ended and once again I was gripped by the characters and the further evolution of the world they liv. Once again the book is so well paced and the morality of the decisions the characters make is handled so well you will not want this story to end. Great great books a must listen.

This book is great, it’s chock full of well-developed and engaging characters who you really find yourself caring about. With a story line that moves at pace with enough engaging moments for the dangerous world Ruby and the others inhabit to develop in a very realistic way. With power plays from various adults and others affecting the lives of all children in a country that is falling apart at the seams and an ending that will have you shocked to your boots. As for the narration I found Amy McFadden did take a little time to get used to but she did a fine job.

I am not one for conspiracy theories but I think Sir Arthur is Anthony Horowitz. This is an excellent book totally gripping well-paced with a great characters I loved it and would highly recommend it even if you are a bit wary of Sir Arthurs work try this. Sir Derek Jacobi is an excellent narrator it feels like your favourite grandfather is reading to you. He manages to imbue the characters with such life without doing much at all. Wonderful book.

This is a book with great ideas but that’s about it. This is your basic kidnap rescue mission with an anti-hero in a dystopian future with magic thrown in for good measure. After an interesting start there seems to be no sense of urgency on behalf of the main character and know clear feel of how much time has passed since the start. Has he been on the case for a week now or has it just been 24 hours? Who can say Well Narrated but better books out there.

What a book. It is fantastically well narrated, the story is rich with characters and endless possibilities and Kate Atkinson does a great job holding all the threads of the story together to great a suspenseful story. There are points when I felt I could not listen anymore knowing some awful fate it about to unfold. The descriptions of London in the blitz brings something to life that constant reference to has dulled with parts unashamedly bringing a tear to my eye. A Must Listen

Who would have thought that through various cock ups, propaganda and necessity you would arrive at religions that still dominate our world to this day? Hear this book tells the story of how the word of god came about through man. Very well narrated and well put together although with so many different historical figures coming at you so fast you do need to pay attention.

Three is an enjoyable and easy listen. The main story is not complicated and the world it is set in is never really explained e.g. who or what are the Weir, why is it a post-apocalyptic society and who is Three but I found myself caring about the characters which the narrator brings alive very well. The book does have the feel of a video game about it (not surprising considering the authors former career) but don’t let that put you off.

Over all an enjoyable book and well narrated.

This book is terrible, the first two books gave his characters great depth, flaws and courage now they seem to have been replaced with incredibly annoying people. Inevera’s back story nearly takes up a third of the book and it seems beyond Peter Brett to imbue any of these characters with any redeeming features. The entire Krasian people are all cast as gay, heartless warriors or evil conniving women. (I thought the back story in the dessert spear was a little long but this….).
Renna is a superficial overly jealous almost childlike character with a frankly unbelievable relationship with Arlen, you just can’t buy into it and as for Arlen himself, he has change beyond all recognition.
Over all Peter has done a great job undoing all his great work in the first 2 books. Lastly the new Narrator is terrible and I will not even look at the next book at all. I no longer care about the characters which have not been helped by Pete Bradbury’s narration.
