When a paragraph in an evening newspaper reveals a decades-old tragedy, most readers barely give it a glance. But for three strangers, it's impossible to ignore. For one woman it's a reminder of the worst thing that ever happened to her. For another it's the dangerous possibility that her darkest secret is about to be discovered. And for a third, a journalist, it's the first clue in a hunt to uncover the truth. The Child's story will be told.

i enjoyed this book and it did kept me guessing until the end. it wasn't always easy to follow in places, and I didn't really get some of the characters, which is one of the reasons I have given it 3 stars but worth a read or listen.

Juliette had a baby with Mr. Not-Quite-Right. Now what? As a mother, I thought I'd live in a cottage with roses around the door. Possibly married to childhood friend, hotel owner and aftershave model lookalike, Alex Dalton. At the very least, I thought I'd own a rolling pin. I DID NOT expect to be living in sin with Nick (bit-part actor who still drinks way too much), squashed into a tiny London apartment, arguing with drunk executives over elevator use. And worse, I think Nick’s cheating on me. You would have thought he'd be too tired, yet I'm sure something is going on …

i loved this book, felt for all the characters within the first half hour of listening, it ended before i wanted it too and it has left me wanting to know more, all loose ends were tied up, but not closed so there could be another made. it is a very sensitive subject, and might not be everyone's cup of tea, but really shows how you can come out the other end. would highly recommend if you like a listen that tugs on your heart strings
