Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her 'our little genius'. Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells.

Finty is an amazing voice over artist!! the story is great and not what you expect. great ending as well.

however certain parts of the story were slightly typical. also the female character of Helen is well written but sometimes the dynamic between her and Parks falls into mlae gaze territory. slight hint at a romance and also heroin male antagonistic female.

iI felt very much apart of the crrates world and loved the characters. i felt Melanie developed rather quickly however. towards the end become rather far fetched.

Pathological mind games. Covert and overt put-downs. Triangulation. Gaslighting. Projection. These are the manipulative tactics survivors of malignant narcissists are unfortunately all too familiar with. As victims of silent crimes where the perpetrators are rarely held accountable, survivors of narcissistic abuse have lived in a war zone of epic proportions, enduring an abuse cycle of love-bombing and devaluation - psychological violence on steroids.

The voice artist is very monatone. it is very hard to engage with and listen to because of this. However the content of the book is spot on. really helpful to anybody who has had contact with a NARC.

The book is excellent for NLP practises and really helped me. Its told through the story of 'joe' attending an NLP seminar.
However the generalisation and stereotyping of women is hard to ignore and frankly ignorant. The one that stands out is a remark made about woman going crazy when buying shoes. Also at the end joe moves his girlfriend in and had to use NLP techniques to understand her 'small problem'. Such a shame its heterosexual and male gaze oriented. I will be looking for female NLP books going forward.
