Thank the lord I had read this book previously. It’s a incredible insight to the human condition. Written in a kind of story form, that allows the reader to learn, think and absorb Napoleon Hill’s brilliant mind. But no the editor (Sharon Lechter) takes it upon herself to usurp the book to attempt to tell you what Hill is saying and how to apply it from her interpretation. I found myself shouting at the audio saying “I’m not interested in your opinion”. The whole point of the book (and why it’s so good) is that hill pinpoints it’s for the reader to interpret. It’s not some I know best. Do what I think book.

Perhaps just too highbrow for me. I constantly felt the author was just trying to tell me how many clever words and phrases he knew. I think at best there was a 5hr story in there. I know many have loved it, so I bow to their greater intellect. It just wasn’t for me.

Philosophical and wordy.

I really enjoyed this book. But make no mistake. It’s long. It’s written with the authors bias and could have got the crooks of the story done and dusted in a third of the time. But it would not have had its magic or feeling. The author was self indulgent. As a reader or listener. You need to allow the same indulgence.

Didn’t want to like it.

For some reason I’ve never loved Stephen King’s books. I listened to this one because I knew it must be me who didn’t get the whole Stephen king thing. So I choose the stand because of its following and the the long length (I like 30hours plus per month to drive too). Truth is I loved it. The story. The narration, even the subject mater. So in short. Take no notice of my reviews and opinions. I can’t be trusted.

I can feel disappointed when I hear a belief delivered as fact based on little of no genuine knowledge. So the opportunity to gain a genuine insight to this incredible period of world history was not to be missed. This is a incredible piece of work, held together with documentation and first person around that work to give you a real picture and flavour of the time. I have just one negative. I felt the author was unfair and often unkind to some of the characters in this remarkable work. It always seamed if they didn’t match up to his own intellect. He could be very dismissive of there efforts weather misguided or not. But please, please read or listen to this. You can only gain from it.

A book to talk about.

I’m grateful for the reminder and education this book gave me. I loved the layout and telling of the story our recent history with this fictional creation, brought to life by the narration. Thank you

I loved this book the first time I herd it. I have possibly listened to it a further 4 times since and will certainly do so again. The style and premise are outstanding. The narration, for me is spot on. One of the reasons I continue to re-listen is I find Stephen Hogan’s telling of the story a joy. The fact that I know and like the story, coupled with the narration means I can put it on when wanting to relax and go to sleep. A winner for me.

I was expecting to enjoy this story as much as I have. Sci-fi isn't my usual listen, as for gaming,I simply don't have any interest at all. But this is so much more than that. My wife recommended it to me. I recommend it to you.

The bible can be a hard read/listen. It can and should be a private and personal relationship between the reader/listener. I can find no complaint or fault with David Suchet's reading. A faithful man reading through the Lord. Not in place of him.

I enjoyed "me before you" and was unaware of a follow up. So I was very pleased to come across this gem. "After you" picked through the aftermath of the previous book without forgetting where its roots and characters had come from. A great listen. Thank you.
