A marine engineer who tumbles off a cliff path on a windy night. A burglary where everything taken was returned by the thief. The suicide of a man in love with life. An accident, a mystery, an unexplained tragedy. And nothing at all to connect them. Until, that is, Detective Constable Fiona Griffiths, searching for something - anything - to take her mind off the tedious job of evidence cataloguing she's been assigned to, starts to wonder if all three incidents are not quite what they seem.

What did you like best about Evil Games? What did you like least?

It has a good plot

Who was your favorite character and why?

All are good characters

How could the performance have been better?

I have avoided books by this narrator before but thought I would try this one as some reviews said it was better. Maybe it was a bit better, but still not good. The problem is that she reads as if she us describing her afternoon tea when the book is about murder and child abuse.

Do you think Evil Games needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

With a different narrator.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Solitary Man to be better than the print version?

I loved this book. It is exciting and kept me interested until the very last page. I have not listened to anything by Stephen Leather that I did not enjoy and I love Paul Thornley's narration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Solitary Man?

The character of the hero.

What does Paul Thornley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

His intonation is so personal and different that it brings the characters to life. There is generally a touch of humour in his voice that adds to the overall performance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No but I looked forward to starting it again each day. Went for long walks so that I could get a good long listen in.

Any additional comments?

Stephen Leather/Paul Thornley. Match made in heaven.

So when a man succumbs to complications from being shot by a stray bullet nine years earlier, Bosch catches a case in which the body is still fresh, but any other evidence is virtually nonexistent. Now Bosch and his new partner, rookie Detective Lucia Soto, are tasked with solving what turns out to be a highly charged, politically sensitive case.

Not sure - someone who does not expect very much??

Would you ever listen to anything by Michael Connelly again?

Not sure. I used to love his books but the last two have felt lazy, as if they are just churned out without thought for the reader.

Did Titus Welliver do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Yes - he was as good as the material allowed.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The narrator did a reasonable job.
