Story
There's a serial killer targeting the streets of Newcastle, seemingly picking his victims at random but subjecting them all to the same torturous end. When the Chief Inspector on the case goes missing, it falls on DCI Ryan to track down the man who is brutally murdering women and goading the police to 'catch me if you can'. As everyone becomes a suspect, Ryan and his team get drawn further and further into the case, but for Ryan the nightmare gets closer to home than he could ever have imagined.

Absolutely gripping!!!

This a cross between a great book and a great radio play— which works brilliantly.
Having read the Ryan series of books - this prequel fills in a lot of blanks.
The characterisation by the actors is very good, with the Geordie accents very genuine (as a Geordie its easy to spot a fake/bad one!)
At points very descriptive of the gory crime scenes, it makes this a very gripping listen. Highly recommended!

Story
The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of James Oswald's gripping new Inspector McLean crime thriller Natural Causes, read by the actor Ian Hanmore. A young girl's mutilated body is discovered in a sealed room. Her remains are carefully arranged, in what seems to have been a cruel and macabre ritual, which appears to have taken place over 60 years ago.For newly appointed Edinburgh Detective Inspector Tony McLean this baffling cold case ought to be a low priority - but he is haunted by the young victim and her grisly death.

This is dark, grisly, deep in characters, well performed and i cannot wait for the follow up.
There are so many threads to this story that can be picked up and woven into a very good series of novels.
I listened to this whilst travelling - almost all in one session it was so good.
