'I'm wearing a beautiful pink dress, and I'm in a big pink room with billowing curtains...and I'm dancing to Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark...and my handsome partner leans over and whispers....' Yes, '80s child Ellie really thought life was going to be like Pretty in Pink, St Elmo's Fire and all those other movies - where everyone was astoundingly glamorous, popular and successful, had huge apartments and lived happily ever after. But now that she and her gang are 30, she has to admit that things haven't quite turned out that way.

What made the experience of listening to The Witch's Daughter the most enjoyable?

The story really wrapped around you and drew you in. Lovely story. Bess's character was so warm and gently. Very calming and relaxing read.

What other book might you compare The Witch's Daughter to, and why?

As I said in my header, catherine cookson meets jeaneette frost or charlaine harris but without the sex and violence.

Have you listened to any of Marisa Calin’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Not listened to any of her others but will do.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was a lovely interesting but also relaxing read. Not boring, thestory was very good.

Any additional comments?

Winter witch is my next read, looking forward to it but need to get going with book 3 please.

Bobby Dollar isn’t your average angel! Sure, he takes the occasional trip to Heaven, but his job as an advocate - arguing the fate of the recently deceased - keeps him pretty busy on Earth, and he's more than happy to spend the rest of his time propping up the bar with his fellow immortals. Until the day a soul goes missing, presumed stolen by "the other side". A new chapter in the war between heaven and hell is about to open. And Bobby is right in the middle of it, with only a desirable but deadly demon to aid him.

Try as I might but this book did not do it for me.

What could Hugh Howey have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I just dont know. Think its me, I struggled to get through this. I felt it was like walking through treacle.

How could the performance have been better?

Not sure. I just think this wasn't for me.
