When Dr. Caden Taggart saw the two men sitting in his waiting room, he didn’t think they were patients. He was right, and when they introduced themselves as agents of the Drug Enforcement Agency, things started to get bad. Then Caden felt as though someone had gut-punched him when his father, Dr. Henry Taggart, told him he probably had carcinoma of the pancreas. When he talked about his son assisting with his suicide, Caden wondered how he could talk him out of that.

This is a tight, enjoyable story with believable characters. There are several twists and turns in the plot and the outcome is, at times, very unpredictable - the author is very good at leading the reader one way then

The characters are believable and well rounded.

The narrator is clear, defines the different characters well and adds value to the whole package

I look forward to more books from this author and narrator.

I received a free copy of the book so I could write a free and fair review. If I hadn’t I would have stopped listening by chapter 4.

The narrator was shrill and where she thought her accents were from is a mystery. I’m English and I had to work hard to understand some of the things she said. It was a constant niggle that detracted from the story. In face I almost decided to abandon the audio book and go with the Kindle version.

The story was fun if somewhat unbelievable - particularly given the mores of the period. However I enjoyed the story but not the performance.

Shame, what should have been a pleasure wasn’t

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hear this book but i am so glad I did. The story telling is taut and I found it difficult to stop listening and do what I had to do away from it.

The start of the story gives no indication of where the adventures will take Marcus, the hero. Nor of how far he and others would have to travel.

It is the first book in a series so while it resolves the original difficulties faced by Marcus and those around him, the ending promises so many more adventures.

I am really looking forward to reading/hearing the next book. The excellent narration greatly added to my enjoyment.

I received a free copy of this audio book from the author and I am so glad I did.

Growing up, my father always told me that I’d come to a bad end, just like my mom did when I was a kid. Hearing that kind of stuff when you’re little eventually gets to a girl, but I can’t say I ever expected my "bad end" to involve an angry vampire with a severe case of iron deficiency and a panty-melting English accent. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. Ever since my mother was assassinated, I’ve felt like there was something vast and frightening hidden beneath the fabric of the world - something none of us are supposed to know about.

This is a new take on vampires. Forget about Buffy, this is about a succubus - who doesn’t know what she is - and a vampire. This leads to encounters with other fee beings and a whole world of trouble for our heroine.

The characters are believable, the sex is hot and the story moves at a fast pace to the cliffhanger at the end.

Can’t wait to hear the next instalment.

This is a great story that kept me listening until the end in one complete session.

I really enjoyed the stories but could not work out who was the murderer in Death of a Deputy until I went to the Kindle version and found chapters 26 - 30 were totally missing. It spoilt an otherwise very good box set.
