I so wanted to listen to this but the narrator is there to read the book so one does not hear them but the story. Sorry, irritating and annoying. Save your credit:(

Such hard work

Yes I know this is a Patricia Cornwall but I really struggled with this. Some of the detail really did seem too much, but just my opinion. The narration was a bit tedious too. Oh well!

Maybe I was expecting too much

It is a shame, yes it does give a lot of background but it was not as good as I had hoped. I almost nodded off at one point. If you think this is another 'story' you will be disappointed.

A brilliant book read by a great narrator is such a rewarding combination. Cormorant Strike and his 'team' are so worth listening to. The story unfolds each murder with more intrigue and suspects, it keeps you guessing until the end. I do hope in her busy schedule Cormorant and Robin are still worthy of another tale by JK!

A great introduction to a new detective

I really enjoyed this book. The narrator was great (how often some can ruin a listen) and how much he brought the characters to life. It started with an almost down and out detective, down on his luck but who is given a job he cannot resist. With his latest temporary secretary, who he can least afford but who works above and beyond her post, they work stealthily through the many characters to find the killer, who I must admit was a surprise to me. Cormorant Strike is a lovable chap and together with Robin, his secretary, you will enjoy how they work out who did it!

A fab read, sorry it has to end!

I enjoyed this trilogy immensely. It kept a good pace and drew the story into many layers, weaving in and out. May have to listen to it all again!

This is not going to win an intellectual review but it was fun and kept me amused on the way to work. I will probably get another in the series at some point because it is easy listening. Enjoyable.

I kept going with this book but felt a bit frustrated by the end. It seemed to get a bit bogged down during the middle, far too much detail that did not seem to add to the overall story and an end that made me say out loud in the car, 'this had better not be ending here!' Which of course it did....... Shame as it started so well.

Great twist for the end.

As a devotee of other narrators of Stephen's books, I read this with some scepticism but should not have worried. The story is from a feminine perspective so made sense to have a woman's voice. Good pace story, moves along well (as one would expect) and a great end. I love his books and was not disappointed!

I really enjoyed Luther. A great story and I really empathised with Luther and his need to keep going on the job despite his personal life falling apart. Would like some more please? Could we have some Alice too? The interaction with Luther and her was too good not to be included in the audio book.
