A drifter since his teens, Jimmy Dorsett has no home and no hope. What he does have is a duffel bag, a lot of stories, and a junker car. Then one cold desert night, he picks up a hitchhiker and ends up with something more: a letter from a dying man to the son he hasn't seen in years.

Determined not to inflict his troubles on anyone else, Tom keeps himself to himself. The story was really engaging. The characters are well written and I loved the pace of the book, he took his time giving you the details so it never felt rushed but it never dragged either. I was always waiting for the next event. Mark Hammers voice is hypnotic, I really could listen to him all day and in fact that is exactly what I did. I listened to this story non stop, all 17 hours of it, I couldn't shut. it off.

Reverend Archie is one of my favourite people. This book is a real gem, the narration is wonderfully done. Every character is so well fleshed out. The subjects covered are so well researched and feel so real, shell shock, war, archaeology and post war life. A well written, wonderful story full of heartbreak, joy and adventure.

A few excruciating minutes pinned under a burning beam cost Ryan Ward his job as a firefighter, the easy camaraderie of his coworkers, his current girlfriend, and damn near cost him his left leg. Giving up, though, wasn't an option. He fought and won the battle back to health, over a painful year. Now, choosing a new profession, going back to school, and renting a room from the college groundskeeper should be simple. Until he realizes he's falling in love with his housemate and things take a turn for the complicated.
