Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Every ten days or more i try to carry on listening...Gosh is it hard work, makes me feel stupid that i just cannot get into it. All jumbled up for me. I wanted a story and got...not sure what. Excellent narrator. I got this audio awhile back and was holding on before reviewing. But i think i will just give up trying to read it, gracefully.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

When something actually does happen, which i forget what, because the rest is memories which i find depressing and a bit boring..sorry.

What aspect of Michael Jayston’s performance might you have changed?

He was perfect.

Did A Perfect Spy inspire you to do anything?

not listen to anymore of John le carre novels. But i did read Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy a long time ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. So i will be trying A Smiley spy series further down the line

Max Carrados, a fictional detective series, was first introduced to the literary world by Ernest Bramah in 1914. In the Edwardian era, Carrados' stories often outsold Sherlock Holmes, with the blind detective sharing top billing with his fictional rival. George Orwell wrote that together with those of Conan Doyle, they were "the only detective stories since Poe that are worth rereading".

Ove is almost certainly the grumpiest man you will ever meet. He isn't as young as he used to be. He drives a Saab. He points at people he doesn't like the look of. He is described by those around his as 'the neighbour from hell'.Every morning he makes his inspection rounds of the local streets. He moves bicycles and checks the contents of recycling bins, even though it's been years since he was fired as Chairman of the Residents' Association in a vicious 'coup d'état'.

Would you try another book written by Fredrik Backman or narrated by Joan Walker?

Joan i am sure is a good narrator, but she just got on my nerves playing ove, maybe it needed a man like mr mildrew to narrate

Who was your favorite character and why?

The cat (maybe)

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Joan Walker?

Mildrew

What character would you cut from A Man Called Ove?

boring and not funny at all

Any additional comments?

After an hour i just gave up....maybe will try again in future

A tale of an unexpected friendship, an unlikely hero, and an improbable journey, Alex's story treads the fine line between light and dark, laughter and tears. And it might just strike you as one of the funniest, most heartbreaking novels you've ever heard. Alex Woods knows that he hasn't had the most conventional start in life. He knows that growing up with a clairvoyant single mother won't endear him to the local bullies. He also knows that even the most improbable events can happen - he's got the scars to prove it. What he doesn't know yet is that when he meets ill-tempered, reclusive widower Mr Peterson, he'll make an unlikely friend.
