Awful narrator

The narrator reads this with about as much conviction as he reads a shopping list. From the get go, a sombre scene of Anne Boleyn's body being lifted away with all the horror, tragedy and ramifications is almost momotone. Awful accents and characterisations. I can't listen to it. I will be returning it.

Awful! Chorus scenes with autotuning!

I can't fault the valiant attempt by the actress narrating. She did a good job of different accents and stressing the bawdier parts of the play BUT somehow, the whole production felt quite turgid. It fell really flat with the liberal use of auto tune to give the impression of multiple voices to form the 'chorus' that rendered it skin to a cheap sci-fi production! It set my teeth on edge and I almost gave in to the urge to turn it off and just forget it. I wish I had bought the other title offered here on audible. I really struggled to get to the end of this and I usually love audio books. This is really awful. Give it a miss.

Anton Lesser is a wonderful narrator who really brings the story to life. His crisp delivery, sense of well timed drama, expressive voice and characterisation is superb. It made this so easy and enjoyable to listen to and brought archaic Greece to life. If you are looking for a version of the Iliad to listen to, you won't find better than this. Excellent!
