I very rarely write reviews but felt the need to do so in this case as it was mainly the previous, rave reviews that swung it for me in terms of spending a credit on it. I kept waiting, waiting, waiting for it to get going and in a nutshell, it didn't. It's simply left me wondering what type of audio books, those that wrote favourable reviews about it, are listening to before this ? Sorry to say I will not be buying another book by the this author. As for the Italian accent by the reader......awful.

I've listened to all four in this series and if there is ever a fifth, I shall not be eating my time & money. The storyline in this one really scrapes the barrell. When I switched it off more than half way through, I should have trusted my gut and not bothered to switch it back on. The narrator's droney voice does irritate me also but my annoyance escalated in this one & war relieved when it was over !

Oh dear........where do I begin ?

What disappointed you about Lasting Damage?

Pretty much the whole thing once passed the first few chapters.

What was most disappointing about Sophie Hannah’s story?

The fact that I really don't think she thought this through AT ALL prior to starting it, as the story progressed it just became more and more ludicrous, really scraping the barrel with this one I'm afraid. Really disappointing as I was really enjoying her other books with these characters and the part where (without giving it away) one of the main characters talks endlessly about how he's figured out all of the psychology behind the perpetrator's actions / thinking and reasoning had me completely bemused - to have ever deduced all of that detailed summation was completely unrealistic but went to show that without it, the reader would have been left even more perplexed by the whole storyline and it was as though this part was added in as an after thought to counterbalance a sheer nonsense plot for us to try and make a bit more sense from it all. Sorry Sophie, this is one for bonfire !

What does Emma Kay and Simon Slater bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The narrators did a fine job considering the plot line they were meant to explain away.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Lasting Damage?

All of it.

Any additional comments?

Don't buy this book, especially if you are a Sophie Hannah fan, it will deflate you !

What would have made The Chakras better?

If it had not been recorded in the first place.

What was most disappointing about Swami Kriyananda’s story?

All of it !

Any additional comments?

I can not express just how terrible this book is - not to mention the quality of the recording and his style of narration, I think maybe the previous reviewer was taking the p**s when she starts the review as the quality was just awful and the description of what you get from this book is not what you get - it's all about yoga with many God references and could only listen to about 15 minutes and it was pure auditory torture !!!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I enjoyed this book although would not describe it as a "suspense" title - there was no element of "whodunnit" but overall quite enjoyed the story but as for the narration ?, well I very nearly did give up minutes in but am not one to give up that easily - she became slightly more bearable as it went on but the whole experience would have been greatly improved by a credible reader.

How could the performance have been better?

Having Sean Barrett maybe as the narrator.

Could you see Beyond Evil being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

No
