It starts with just one body - tortured, mummified and then discarded. Its discovery reveals a nightmare world of hidden lives. Of lost identities, secret rituals and brutal exploitation, where nobody can be trusted. This is the darkest, most complex case the police have ever seen. This is the world of the Crow Girl.

Excellent story if a bit dark. Details and descriptions are not given but alluded to in such a gruesome way your imagination fills in the blanks in the worst possible way. The 3 original books are combined in this version so you may feel it is a little long but, on the other hand, I was sad to say goodbye to the characters.

In the darkness of an underground cave, blind creatures hunt by sound. Then there is light, voices, and they feed.... Swarming from their prison, the creatures thrive; to whisper is to summon death. As the hordes lay waste to Europe, a girl watches to see if they will cross the sea. Deaf for years, she knows how to live in silence; now it is her family's only chance of survival. To leave their home, to shun others. But what kind of world will be left?

Tim Lebbon is a new author for me and what made me give this book a try was the other reviews that mentioned Herbert's The Rats. Not as fast paced as Herbert's books (a little slow to begin in fact) but well worth a listen.Just be ready to want another book to finish the story as the end leaves you wanting more! I will be trying another of this author's books in the hope it is as good.

One of the best audio books I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. The narrators voice is very pleasant and the story flows along with many 'gasping' moments. If you enjoy ice, dinosaurs and plenty of action this one won't disappoint!
