Doesn't take long to realise chapters are rather short and as such when flicking from family to family you become quite confused quite quickly. it's a book much better read than listened to. Most memorable moment.... the shooting and murdering of blind Arthur.

Quite simply dear audio 'readers' this is one simply engrossing version of the much loved tale from Dickens himself. There is very little to say other than out of all I have listened to, this one was by far the best. I do hop you will give this version a chance. You will be extremely pleased you did! Yours truly - Indie.

Dear reader, I truly thought I would have absolutely no interest in this tale of sex and debauchery, but being a woman in her prime and not being afraid of such topics nor embarrassed by them, I was kind of left wondering when it would all kick in! if you listened to all the hype regarding this novel many would be in fear of being caught reading it, which is why I suspect it has been such a massive audio hit. However..... Once I had completed the first two chapters of the book, I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next. I was engrossed in the general content and although the sex within is highly demographic it is most certainly NOT the entirety. Much like a marriage really. Would I recommend it? Yes, but NOT for the reason you would first assume. The story within and surrounding the characters is indeed engorssing in itself. It is for this reason I give the book 4 stars. I did indeed find myself re-listening to the whole novel once more. A very enjoyable read, but please do listen to the story within and pay heed to the sexual encounters within their correct tense to gain the most from this novel. Truly - Indie.

Dear readers, as a past avid reader of Miss Read's novels and after having loved most of them in succession, this was my first audio version. Iyou, the dear reader are looking for a christmas story of warmth, of joviality and that seems to fill you with the spirit of christmas yonder, this may not be the book for you. Not have I been engrossed, nor was I equally pulled gently into the story. More so I found my mind wandering occasionally, and although not altogether bored, there was certainly a lack of charisma for me. it is for this reasosn that I give this book no more than 3 stars. While it is a happy christmas story, it is in my opinion nothing special. It is such as shame as having previously read others as I have stated above, I expected much more. Truly - Indie.

This version is completely and deeply engrossing from the very first paragraph. I feel I am included in Charlotte's story as she introduces me as her ''Gentle reader''. I am gripped far more than I have been of other versions. It is read with empathy for all characters and a great understanding of the author as well as the sory told. I most highly recommend to all readers out there to purchase this version most of all. Yours Truly Indie.
