This book sounded good to read but my advice to you is to skip it, it is not worth over 8 hours of your time. It started very disjointed and you do wonder what is her dad doing to her all the way through the book and then it reveals yes he has been doing the nasty thing you thought he's doing since she was little. AVOID!!

I think books like this should have a warning on them. lot's of people are effected by abuse and do not want to read what may have been done to them. AVOID!!

Er.... I literally don't know what to say about this book! I saw that it had a lot of negative reviews but I'm interested in Jack the Ripper and thought it would shead some light or another view point on the illusive Jack but it was basically the life and time of Sherlock Holmes and a famous author from back in those day's. I did learn a few things about there lives that I could have lived without ever knowing.
If you want a story about Jack the Ripper this is not the book for you.

The end of the series and I'm sad that it has come to an end. It's been and fun and interesting listen which I enjoyed very much. I loved the the relationship between all the characters and I would say that inspector Mclevy is the Victorian version of inspector Poirot with how his mind works. I would definitely recommend it and also recommend starting from the first book then you can see how the characters develop and follow the storylines better by knowing the back story.

Each one gets better and better. Each cast member make this series work without them Mclevy would just be ok. I've got to admit it really does take you in and when some members leave you feel the lose. It is well written and well read/ acted and leaves you wanting to listen to the next one straight away. I love inspector Mclevy and love how his mind works and you know he always gets his man/women, also you never know what's going to happen with Jean and McLevy's relationship. A Victorian crime in Edinburgh.
