I just can't understand how someone like him could do something like that. Amid the worst drought to ravage Australia in a century, it hasn't rained in small country town Kiewarra for two years. Tensions in the community become unbearable when three members of the Hadler family are brutally murdered. Everyone thinks Luke Hadler, who committed suicide after slaughtering his wife and six-year-old son, is guilty.

Great story, absorbing from start to finish. Really cared about the characters and didn't see the end coming at all! Excellent narration. Highly recommend this book.

Overall this was very frustrating, of the 5 storylines, 4 remain unresolved at the end. It feels as though the last third of the book is missing! A theme across several books is fine, but there has to be one major storyline concluded per book to make it satisfying. The balance in this one was way out, to the point where it feels as though the author lost interest and gave up. Very disappointing.

Enjoyed it but too much left for the next book. Seemed like had chapters missing.
